1941 The Speilberg Orphan

Great cast of actors and one of the best dance/fight scenes ever.
And a great John Williams score.

Saw it once on the television years ago and that was enough. It's an example of Spielberg at his worst. He took the cast from one of his favorite movies (Animal House) thinking it would recreate the same comedic magic the film had but instead it just turned out to be movie where people yell and scream into the lens.

There's some fun gags but, in the end, it's a loud movie meant to be loud. One of the biggest sin I found was that it had Toshiro Mifune and Christoper Lee working opposite each other and it's utterly terrible!

I used to absolutely love this as a teenager, I tried to watch it last year and ended up turning it off, either my tastes have changed a lot or I caught it on a bad day.

It's like a train wreck, you just can't avoid it. Still beats Ishtar though and it has Slim Pickens in it so it's not all bad. The shame of it is with all those stars the thing could have been a huge success as a comedy.

That movie was so forgettable the only thing I remember is the Ferris wheel.

1941 is a mess of catastrophic proportions. Out of the almost two hour running time there's probably ten minutes of entertaining moments and one hour and forty some odd minutes of what the hell were they thinking moments. It's a real shame considering the talent that was involved both in front of and behind the camera.

I'm sorry all you guys had such a bad experience with this movie. I absolutely love it!! I saw it 3 times at the movies in 79 when I was in the eighth grade.
I had it on vhs and the directors cut on dvd. My wife found the Blu Ray for me last Sat. and I watched it twice over the weekend. It looks amazing! I'm seeing things I've never seen before. Sure it has it's faults, but I guess I have an emotional attachment to it seeing it at an impressionable age.

I watched it when I was a kid and it has been a classic for me ever since. It was a bomb at the box office, but who cares.

It is Speilbergs homage to "A Mad Mad Mad Mad World"

It is not for everybody but there is a big cult following for it now, which surprises even Spielberg now.

SO many classic lines in there and rip offs of old comedy and vaudeville acts that I think, as well as a quite a few of my friends, are friggin hilarious, and pure ballsy genius
