It was quite a change working on something other than Bandai snap kits. I forgot what it was like to work on a glue kit

That looks awesome! I remember trying to build and paint a version of this kit when I was younger. My build didn't look anywhere near as nice as this one! Great paintjob

This is an all new tool that was released in the past year or so for the kit. From what I understand it is a huge improvement over the old kit which is probably the one you worked on

The decals in it are fantastic as well

That is a great build!
Which paint did you use for the orange?

Thanks!

First base coated everything with a mix of Deck Tan and Flat White over black primer

Then for the orange I used X-6 Orange which is actually a gloss. It took several layers to build up a nice cover, but that was not quite red enough on it's own. I mixed in a bit of Flat Red to get a more Vermillion type of color and did another coat or two in spots

Engine bells were with Spaztix Chrome

Did you have any issues with brittle parts? Last year I got one of those kits and started building and noticed quite a few parts just started breaking while still on the sprue!

Weird

I did not run into that issue thank god.

The cages and stuff I had done in sub assemblies and kept removing parts so I could paint under them etc... waiting until the very end to glue a lot of the pipes and cages.

Never had anything break

Maybe a bad batch of plastic? You might inquire with Round2 about replacing it?

Beautiful job! I REALLY need to get back to my 1/72 Eagle...

But I'm also hearing the siren call to do a pair of 1/72 F-14A's since crackerjazz posted his Top Gun Tomcats. Ah, the trials and tribulations of being a short attention span modeler. ;)

Folks, I don't want to sound mean here...

but I just got back from the Moon, and these are simply photos of the *ACTUAL SHIP* that is readily available there. While the starfield background has been blacked out, you can still see the space tether.

Ok, but you do realize it was all your imagination, right? You've been HAD!
