1:72 FM Falcon - modified to match the 32" studio model

Hi Marko, your work is amazing! Just a quick one, I notice your falcon doesn't have the 2 rectangular details on top just in front of the curve armor plates attached to the mandibles.
(i.e. the shield generators).

Is this left out intentionally or you are installing them later... very interesting :)

That's actually on my build. I just haven't put them on yet. Marko's pictures at the top of the thread show it the right way.

Okay, here's mine. It's a work in progress. Still adding details and painting. My main goal was the hull curvature. I like me a FAT Falcon. View attachment 434929View attachment 434930View attachment 434931

Wow! I love it!
And why exactly are you complaining about your painting skills? Looks great to me!

What did you do to the lower landing gear "boxes"? Did you correct these, too?
Unfortunately, I noticed this too late, so I did not do any corrections to them.

Thanks for the clarification! I was looking all over my Falcon, looking for missing shield generators... ;-)

Thanks, man! I admire your chipped paint effects and use of the airbrush. I do most of my weathering with pastels and scraping. I think your paint job has a stronger sense of contrast.

I didn't modify the landing gear boxes except for the forward middle one on the lower mandible. On that one I increased the depth to make it level with the ground (if the ship was sitting on its landing gear). After cutting away the mandibles, jaw boxes and docking port sections, I felt like cutting away all the gear boxes was going to make it too tough to restore the structural integrity to the model! That being said, looking at it now, I wish I had done it.

Thanks for the compliments!

I wasn't happy with Fine Molds' display stand for the Falcon, so I tried to modify it for beeing able to set it in a different angle...

Now, I liked the angle I could display the Falcon, but the display stand... even if I sprayed it flat black... not so much

So, I decided to take out the lower turret and remove the upper part that holds the gun.
Besides the new improved window frame (3D-printed creation of Tony on shapeways) I also cut a hole into it...

... for an aluminum profile that is glued to the inside. I used instant power glue and then hot glue for strongest support

A nicely grained wood + aluminum profile as new display stand

And then the result looks like this

depending on the direction I put the falcon on the display stand, the angle of the flight position varies...

And finally - there she is - on display with 1:72 Red Jammer and Blue X-Wing
