1:6th to 1:8th 89 Batmobile replica

Hey friends,

Another friend of mine has offered to build me a 1:6th to 1:8th Replica shell for the 1989 Batmobile. I have been wanting to have a HUGE 89 Batmobile RC for years. I have seen so many amazing custom RC cars, and the 89 Batmobile could just be amazing.

So, if he makes me the shell, who in the world can I get to build me the undercarriage and motor and wheels and such? I have done some research online, but there are SO MANY RC companies and Custom RC people online that I am overwhelmed on what to do when the shell gets here.

Can I get some advice please from the members here in the know. Because once I have the shell in hand, I will be stuck with what to do next.

Does anyone here recommend a custom RC maker who would be up to the task of building the parts and pieces I need?

Thanks SO much for your help!!!!

bump...

Any suggestions. I emailed like a dozen different RC custom shops, and they were all TERRIBLE. I got ONE guy who was actually nice enough to write a complete sentence to me.

Still could use some advice!

Thanks Dave.

God, I truly don't know what to do. I got more emails today from various custom RC places online. Their customer service is terrible. One guy said, and nothing else:

"$2000"

That was it. Lord. This sucks. What is a guy to do?

There's no way in the world that this is going to be cheap. You'd need a custom tub with all custom mounting points for the drive train and suspension. Tabs for mounting points and battery/servo mounting.

The only real option is to have your friend design the shell over a pre-existing car in that size. But I'm pretty sure that means going to either 1/10 or 1/4. I haven't been in R/C in a long time, but I don't recall any scale between those.

There is a hokey work around, but it would be pretty ghetto. Design the wheels as part of the shell and mount the shell on a 1/10 scale car chasis. The 1/10 car would be doing all the driving, but it would like a 1/6 batmobile on the outside. You'd have, essentially, a batmobile version of the star wars MSE droid from the death star.

Hey Chuck,

Yeah, this is pretty much a custom job and I think they will bill you accordingly. I'm working on something similar to this and basically got a local hobby shop to stretch and widen an existing RC car. the chassis was cut down the middle for the length, and the front/rear axles were pulled out at 4 ends. Of course you'd have to lengthen all wires, cables, etc. If you are looking for awesome performance, maybe widening, lengthening a gas/nitro 1/10 scale car? I dunno. :)

Fred, that's pretty funny because we used to do this with our 1/5 scale concept cars when I was in school. Half the time the outer wheels wouldn't even touch the ground or spin. Looked like it was hovering :lol
