1:350 scale enterprise question MAYBE BABY!!!

I don't know if this thread should be in this forum, or general modeling, but I have a question. I mentioned to another member that I was going to start building a collection of 1:350 scale Enterprises beginning next summer, when I have the cash, and I was just curious if anyone knows how many of the enterprises have been modeled for 1:350th scale. I could only find the NX-01 and the Enterprise-A. I know they are planning to put out an Enterprise TOS at 1:350th scale, but what about the others? I am planning to start with the NX-01 and work my way down the alphabet, till I get to "E". By next summer, I will have access to kits for the NX-01, TOS and A, and I plan to use as many kits as I can to save me money and time. The fun part will be scratch-building what ISN'T pre-casted. And I say "fun" literally. I will really enjoy building what I can from scratch, especially if no-one else has done it. And I would even be willing to do a run on my scratch-builds if that would be legal. I know somebody out there might want one, and it would help me finance my builds. But all that is down the road. For now, I am just trying to track down kits at 1:350 scale that already exist. Thanks for looking!:)

Re: 1:350 scale enterprise question

I don't think there are kits for any of the other Enterprises.

The 1701-D and 1701-E when completed would each be at least 6 ft. long at that scale.

Re: 1:350 scale enterprise question

Now there's someone thinking like me! Polar lights will do for nx-01, TOS, refit or A, I plan to have my D done by next spring, custom replicas is working on the E.
Thinking about the B next and a voyager all in the same scale would be awesome! Just need someone to do the C........hmmmm

6 ft. long... I know. It's gonna be awesome!

I was planning to do the series in order, but I guess I could make an exception. If I start with the C, would you be willing to trade a cast of the D for the C? If you beat me to the B, I am gonna be pissed! :lol just kidding. But the Excelsior Class is one of my absolute favorites. If you want to collaborate with me, I would be honored. But let me know if you would like me to start on the C as soon as you can. It will take me several months to research the build... I want it to be accurate, if I am gonna be sharing. I will check out custom replicas about the E... and a 1:350 scale Voyager would just about kick A*S! This could get really interesting!

I made a collaborative decision to begin my trek with the Enterprise-C.My research has indicated a length of 526 meters for the Enterprise-C. That's 1,578ft. At 1:350th scale, the Enterprise-C would be approximately 4.508ft. long. I will simplify and just call it 4.5ft... the Enterprise-A @ 1:350 scale should only measure about 2.6ft. So it's gonna be awesome eye-candy when I finish it! If my math is off, or my research is incorrect, I encourage input! :)

I came up with 59.165". Double check the math. 526m equals 20708" divided by 350 is 59.165". Should be pretty impressing. Larger than the original studio model. Will dig up some good pics his weekend!

Re: 1:350 scale enterprise question

Thanks for the catch. I was using 3ft=1m, but 1m actualy= 3.28084ft. Didn't consider the scale, or I would have realized how big a difference 0.28ft per meter would make on a conversion of that size. I won't be lazy again, I can tell you that! :lol I'll look forward to the pics... I have scoured the net and haven't found much, yet. I have some decent pics of the model and some blury screen-shots... and a couple of colored scale drawings, but not nearly enough to get it right-on. Thanks again!

Re: 1:350 scale enterprise question

HOLY!!!!!!! Where are you going to display 9 1:350 size Enterprises ranging from a bit less than three feet to almost 6 feet? Personally I'd love to have the space to display these but I can't afford to build a museum of my own :p lol

By the time I have them all built, I'll have that figured out. But it is only 7 for me; NX-01, TOS, A, B, C, D and E. 8, if you include the USS Voyager. But I am not planning to model the J or the new Enterprise. No offense to all you die-hard Trekkies out there, but the Enterprise J is just too out-there. And the new Enterprise, while awesome in design and aesthetically built, represents a Star Trek I am not comfortable with. I have never been comfortable with "re-do's". I like originals, because they are the closest thing to the artist's vision... and there you have it!:)

Re: 1:350 scale enterprise question

Ok so here goes!:popcorn The best part about this site is everyone helping each other out, being supportive and motivating! Here is what I could find on the net, most of the studio model pictures of the enterprise c are pretty bad. It was a very quickly built model, and was later repainted as the yamaguchi. The main obvious diferences are the nacelles, deflector dish and the saucer that has been moved back (perhaps it was damaged in storage:unsure). Most of these pics I pulled off drex files, so I hope there is not a problem:confused, if so check out that site. I'm sure we can build a model better than the original, as you will see some of the panel line detail is pretty crude.

Re: 1:350 scale enterprise question

Those are good ref pics. I am gonna have to stay on my toes when using references, so I don't mess up and copy the Yamaguchi! LOL. It's really funny how things work out, because I used to think that the Enterprise-C was pretty lame, but the more I research it and stare at it, the more I love it! Thanks for pics... We'll get this thing knocked out of the park. It's gonna be awesome!

Re: 1:350 scale enterprise question

Don't forget Tamiya's 1/350 USS Enterprise aircraft carrier. I mean if you're serious about what you are doing then you have to include this ship.

Of course I'm serious! And don't call me Shirley :lol... I'm not sure I would want to do a carrier. On the other hand, it would really add a sense of lineage to the collection. We'll put it to a vote!!! All those in favor of adding the carrier, reply with, "masu-hali!"... that's Vulcan, for "boat."

Hey! My wife just gave me permission to hang them all from the ceiling in my house!

Re: 1:350 scale enterprise question

I need to get my hands on some accurate blue-prints of the enterprise-c. another rpf member who claims to have some dealing with one of the original modelers of the c says that the blue-prints in the calendar, and the ones from the model kit are not accurate. I PM'd him to try to get some more info, but he has not gotten back to me. So, he is either in the hospital for the last month, in prison, dead or banned from the rpf. SO!!! I am counting on you guys to help me get this thing going. As soon as I get those prints, the build is on! And I plan to work my ass off and catch up to Galaxyman1701d, so I can start on the 1:350th scale Enterprise-B!!!!! Just kidding. That baby is his; I promised. I guess that means I get the E.:love It'll be interesting to see how close I can come to REM's, since I don't own a CAD system... or a plastic-printing machine... or a work-bench! LOL ( FOCUS, Ben, focus!) OK, enterprise-c, need prints... Thanks for looking!

All the posting I have done, and I FINALY figured out how all of you change your titles! HA-HA-Ha-a-a-a-a-a-a-a! The world is now MINE!!!!!!!!!!:confused
