This is the F&M kit build up I'm doing over the weekend as part of my 'trying to get caught up series', lol.

I've got all the major construction finished and will now move onto paint. The customer didn't want lighting so this should go pretty fast.

Thanks for looking.

Looks great!... where do you find Plastikote? I can't seem to find anyone here around Chicago.

Thanks,
KK

Nice job!

Thats the OLD STARBUCK Version.
Before the kit had landing gear.

Some other changes to the cockput as well.

NICE CLEAN CASTINGS.

;-)

REL,
Love your work on blending the wings to body and the guns to wings among everything else.
I've seen this kit built before and those seem to be stumbling blocks that some folks get caught up in but you sure made it all seamless!
Can't wait to see it in paint!

The only place I can find it here is at Car Quest. If not, you can get it at Amazon.

While that stuff IS great the same brand offers a "high fill" (fast build) primer that is nearly as smooth but makes quick work of filling and feathering cleanup work! Maybe I'm lucky in this area but just about any auto parts store carries the brand? (Pep Boys, Advance Auto, AutoZone and IIRC O'Reily's too?) Dries 'almost' as fast as lacquer and from what I've seen over the years it doesn't appear to shrink later on? Sure makes life easier!:cool

Not to hijack your thread any further, but how do you guys get such a nice finish with a rattle can? Unless I use my airbrush, i never get anything decent with a rattle can.

Use a good acrylic formula, that dries fast, i use Halfords, but you wont get that in the US buddy.
Shake the hell out of it, while also, warming in water, get it thin and mixed well.
Shoot a light coat first, then, back it up some more as you go, give it around 5 mins between coats.
Cant say ive ever airbrush primed, but ive used rattles for many years, and always get a super smooth coat, guess its what your used to.
Another tip, hairdryer "lightly" between coats, this really sheens up the primer for that perfect CGI look lol, but i rarely need that.

Mine is still sitting untouched in the box Frank shipped it in. :cry I can't start it until I move and get a workshop set up...and finish some projects for other people first. You're killing me, Rich, but I can't wait to see more! Flawless job so far. Will you be doing a cleanish version or a beat all to hell version?

beautiful work, looking over my kits, one of my worries is the canopy frame, it looks susceptible to warping, I think if someone makes a photoetch replacement that would make the model perfect, I've got 2 to build and the MkVII they are awesome rein kits, top notch fit and casting, one of these days Ive gotta stop going to work and start building models

Its Fine once its got plastic glues in for "glass" and glued in place.
I would remove it from the kit and put it in something that it can sit at room temp.

It will be fine until you assemble it. DONT leave it in the kit with PRESSURE on it..or..yeah. It will warp.

Surface prep helps a lot too. Wet sand your primer coat with 400 or 600 grit. You can get a nice finish, even with Krylon. :thumbsup
