Everyone has a right to make comments, but if someone makes useless unconstructive comments that are more of a slam than a critique I think the artist ALSO has a right to call the person on it. That way in the future that person can offer comments that could actually be helpful and have some value.

Comments that are all negative are just as worthless as comments that are all positive.

Steve and Howard both take criticism well... Ive seen it. Steve is a VERY improved apon artist from years of being able to take criticism and applying it to his next pieces.

There is a difference in bashing and critique.



Saying I think the "lips are too pink" etc. thats a pointer/critique.

Saying that the sculpt is great but the paintjob is crap (or vice-versa) is NOT in anyway giving critique and or pointers... its just bashing. :unsure

Just returned from the OSWFC Jedi Con which I enjoyed a lot. (My Anakin reveal sculpt won the first price in the art show contest and they did a great job on the opening movie in which i had played and spoke my Yoda puppet) It had been a great fun.

I must say, that this thread got out of hand a bit. My critique was meant constructive and i didn´t want to hurt anyone. Not you as well, Howard. You do nice things. And this indeed counts! Again (and again): Sorry Howard if I did hurt you:wacko. If people are happy with that SCULPT

than it´s is okay. I won´t start beginning with a debate on the details. For what. I see you must be treated very very carefully. So I will do this as well as the others do. But I warn you: please do never stop listen to any critique, because some of them really will count to became better and better. I know very good that sometimes this could be very hard, and you will need sometimes "a fat skin" to tolerate some words, but no one should ever close this door, because he becomes the "I´m the best desease" and looses his skills then more and more....

To finish posting in this thread i have to say, that I think, It counts more that Howard sadisfies his customers, and peolpe enjoy this forum. I will not take some comments too serious. BTW it should be fun here and i will more take care of it like of a young flower :love

And I actually originally posted the side by side photo, and if you re-read my post, it wan't bashing at all, but meant for comparision along with, what I felt, constructive comments where I went on to praise Howard.

There has been a bit of unfortunate bashing on this thread, but there's been equal parts knee-jerk, over reacting, name calling, too.

What should have been a "let's chip in our suggestions to help make a better product" thread quickly de-evolved into something pretty ugly.

If you want to be treated seriously, then you also have to try not to become personally. That is unfair. I never had in mind to blame someone personally. Only said how a work worked for me (JUST FROM MY POINT OF VIEW). Sorry that I´m successful in business as a sculptor for over 13 years now. My animatronics figures, puppets, waxworks, models can be seen all over the world since then. I will stop writing in this thread and would find it very nice if peace will be restored, by now.

Some would say that being a success in Sweden is not quite on par with being a sucess in say Hollywood or New York. Mind you, I would never say such a thing because I try to have manners, but some people would. It stings a bit, huh? If you can't take it, don't dish it. I'd be happy to let this thread die, but I won't let you try to disguise an iron fist in a mink glove.
