-sigh- missed this post for a day - and damn.. it exploded..
First off - I just wanted to say that I do like Steve and Howards work.

I have dealt with or have pieces from each of them and they're good people. People who have been on the boards for a while know of their work, and know that both of them, in terms of, customer service are very professional - and they try their best. On these boards and as a prop collector finding people that you can rely on - and trust is a hard thing to do. The people that do provide this should be treated with respect.:thumbsup
On the sculpt and paintjobs themselves - I'm definitely not a professional - I couldn't paint for my life - but I can sculpt balls and worms like no other...:lol
But I have seen enough props in my life to know when something "looks about right" or doesn't....and that just takes time and dedication looking at thousands of reference pictures...I think many of us on this board can also spot similar issues and can offer opinions of other people's work.
This may be too idealistic - but I thought that these board were here for "constructive" criticism. All posts here should have said: "I don't really like it... the sculpt looks a tad too fat" or "I don't really like the paint job - perhaps if you tried darkening the eyebrows...or adding a little more highlights in the hair...or something.. .(i don't think that you should actually darken the eyebrows..or the sculpt is too fat... i was just using that as an example)...
I think posts can also be done in a more diplomatic way. We're all supposed to be friends here. If your best friend got a new pool in their backyard you wouldn't go over and say to his face "Dude, your pool sucks" so people here shouldn't do it here either. You CAN say "Dude, your pool would be better if you put rails around it like I did..." or something.
The point is - if people offered CONSTRUCTIVE criticism - it would help steve or howard actually improve - or vice versa - if people offered their constructive criticism and later on they realized their mistake through other posts or through responses from steve or howard- that person would learn something too.
I agree with PHarchivist not everyone has the same diplomatic skills (but the penis size thing will need to be debated in another forum) - so yes, it is up to the artist to also realize this and if they get what appears to be a harsh comment - to simply ask "well, what can I do to improve it?" If an artist calls someone out like that - and the poster has nothing to say - everyone will also realize that the harsh poster is full of sh** and should be disregarded. If the poster does have a suggestion and does express it - it's up to the artist to decide if he'll listen - and others will also have the opportunity to chime in and reply to the suggestion.. that way, we ALL learn - rather than just hurt each other's feelings.
The posts started to blur together a little - But I only noticed a few posts that would actually help steve or howard..... and that's not what I thought this board was here for....
(by the way - I accept criticism on my collection as well - and many things that people have said to me here on this board, I have listened to so I could improve my collection)
damn it people.. just get along with each other!:angry - I for one would like to continue seeing howard and steves work on this board.
