Here are some photos taken during a photoshoot. I realize the bicep armor was put on the wrong way only after the photoshoot. The armor has since been dirtied.
Wrong blaster, but the look is just fantastic.
So yes the project is "complete". A labor of love at certain points / sometimes grounds for a divorce (LOL), but worth it (if I judge by the reactions of some from the 100,000 people on the parade route).
First troop is always the hardest (quite a few things to do to tweak it to make it easier...
Burned the midnight oil last night. I stopped at 2:00am so that I could some sort of rest before I walked the 4+km route today in the suit.
The priming was done previously.
Put the straps and sme padding into the elbow armor
Did a test fit with the pods and backpack together, Also...
No pictures but a lot of work nonetheless.
The antenna assembly was primed with grey, and painted black since Wednesday. Wanted to put the final coats of white yesterday, but the black was still a bit tracky for some reason (even after drying in the house for about 24 hours). It will / has to...
Time was taken a bit with various things this weekend.
I was able to actually finish assembling the antenna assembly for the backpack. As suggested by a few, I blocked one of the light panels on the assembly. I covered it with a piece of ABS plastic painted gray.
I also finally found a way...
Night 23... I think...
I had to move one of my couplings in the side pods as it would twist the antenna too much. that took almost an evening to tweak that assembly (that epoxy is STRONG).
Tonight I was able to do some electronics in the antenna. The previous night I put some ABS strips...
Some weekend work and part of tonight.
I was able to paint the second part of the backpack with the Host Leaf color.
I also completed the 2 circles on the left side of the chest.
Once that dried (after 2 days) I marked the other Forest Green color and away I painted.
Final outcome...
More work the past 2 nights. Doesn't seem like much but it's the home stretch for me.
Yesterday was getting some parts after borrowing an idea from Gino (he did set the bar after all).
I'm going to put some PVC piping in the antenna assembly to make it sturdy and make it easier to assemble...
Another night, more work done.
I was able to prime the backpack (while giving out candy to the kids. Some thought it was really cool what I was building).
I was able also to add a few layers of black on it as well... to follow is the white/ greens and grey.
After a few coats of black paint
A little more work this weekend (when not busy with the lawn, or house chores). I'll post pictures tonight.
I was able to glue the bottom pieces of the ammo boxes on my backpack. After some creative use of the epoxy glue (to avoid too much time with bondo), I was able to sand it down and make...
Well ran out of time. Armor will not be ready for an event that I was planning to do tomorrow morning (Childrens' Wish Foundation)
It gives me more time to prepare the backpack properly (it is not complete.). I still have to do a lot of touch up painting, not to mention the padding for the...
