It's 2 part epoxy. So as a rule of thumb I'd consider taking the same precautions you would take with any kind of 2 part epoxy. I always use gloves and an OV mask and good exhaust ventilation. I seem to recall XTC seems to downplay their safety precautions.

I'd agree with this assessment. They look like a stacks of CD's to me. I remember you could buy small diameter blank CD's way back. These cylinders look about the same diameter; though I'm not sure exactly when they became available to buy off the shelf. mm.

The one that inspires you to do the best job you can. Don't worry about which one. Just pick one and do it! :) No matter which one you do, once you're on your 5th or 6th you will look back at that first helmet you thought you did an amazing job on and you will want to re-do it! The only way...

Speaking only of the hero prop. Aluminum is cheap, CNC'ing is cheap. I don't think they would go through the trouble to use nickel silver. More expensive and copper, nickel and zinc are about 3 times heavier than aluminum, ignoring alloy. I doubt the hero prop for one of the main characters...

After reading your post again, I am reminded that my Dad once told me that he had a small precision metal lathe which he doesn't use... I think I'll have to see if he still has it. I'd love to get it running. Just watched a video on knurling as well, very cool. I had no idea how it was...

Thanks JDiamond! We're obviously thinking along the same lines... If you look closely, the acrylic is set into slots in the aluminum base. The base itself is a box within which you could put some LED lighting to shine up through the acrylic, lighting up the blaster and of course lighting up...
