New animated star trek special now online!

For what seems like an eternity, a few members of this board have been quietly following the development of an animated Star Trek special I’ve had the pleasure of producing. As time progressed, many whispered questions were fielded as to its progress. Today I am happy to loudly announce the...

    Star trek tos-magnetic probe

UPDTE #4 Hey everyone. Here’s what should be the next to the last update. Great news – all the aluminum parts for the Magnetic Probe were picked up from the machine shop Friday afternoon! Put thru the dishwasher to get all the grime and oil off, they look freakin’ fantastic. I’m making a...

    Tos vulcan bust

I want to share with everyone one of the most exciting and unusual projects I’ve ever undertaken. It’s the Vulcanesque objet d’art seen in just about crewmen’s quarters from the original Star Trek. Dr. McCoy had it first in The Man Trap – as a pair of bookends, then it was placed in several...

    Star trek tos-magnetic probe

UPDATE #3 OK everyone, here’s the latest news on your Magnetic Probes… The shop got the end caps done, complete with a terrific satin finish and chamfer edge. Saturday, I got a phone call from the shop owner to come and proof the handles. They’re beautiful: sleek and rugged down to their...

    Star trek tos-magnetic probe

UPDATE #2 Hey guys, got your 2nd update here! The prongs’ order is in the works. I’ve been told by the 3rd-party shop’s foreman he’s fallen behind, but ought to have them ready for pick-up Friday afternoon. The aluminum bar was ordered and showed up ahead of schedule. A delay in hearing...

    Tos star trek atavachron

I guess I neglected to comment on the Atavachron's composition. All metallic-looking parts are, indeed, machined aluminum; some high-polished, some satin. The finials at the top of the 3 feet are turned brass. The blue-grey box is fiberglass over wood.

Star trek tos vulcan lyre - funtioning musical instrument!

Hey guys, In November I completed my 14th - and final - TOS Vulcan lyre, a commissioned piece for a friend in Indiana. Since links to Spock's axe is a little scarce around, I thought I'd put some out here. The following images are of my lyre. Expect for grain pattern variations, it's...

    Tos star trek atavachron

This is an Atavachron tabletop viewer I did in '06. Full of myself after finishing my first Vulcan lyre in '95, I jumped to the drafting table the next morning and worked out the plans for the Sarpedion time machine. Never got around to trying it until I felt comfortable with working aluminum...

Has anybody made Scotty's wrench (polarity tool) from TOS? Can someone make one?

I'm the guy who built the above mag Probe. I was contacted by Funky Jedi and another collector to see if I could do another run. If there are enough of y'all to warrant the materials and shop time (rough estimated: about a dozen), I'd be glad, Those collectors interested, please let me know...

Thanks for the back story. Necessity is truly the mother of invention! Not to mention the lack of a budget…

Star trek tos laser scalpel suite

Howdy Guys! To those TOS fans, and in particular the many medical devices collectors out there, I'd like to show-off a run of laser scalpels I did some time ago. Since the 70's I've come across many at conventions, but only of the basic shapes: plain cylinders with squat cones. They always...
