Doctor Strange costume (Benedict Cumberbatch version) question

So I'm curious what thoughts are about the squiggly fabric? I did a cursory look online but didn't see anything I thought would really be good enough. Maybe draw on puff paint instead?

Doctor Strange costume (Benedict Cumberbatch version) question

Is it just me or does it appear that the panels of the cape are cut along the bias? Just below the yellow marker there it looks like the (herringbone?) is at a diagonal. I could see this being easier to draft a pattern from and might lend a distinctive flow to the cape.

Doctor Strange costume (Benedict Cumberbatch version) question

Gorgeous! Thanks for working on this. And thanks to everyone (you included Prop Lord!) for linking the hardware from shapeways. I'm helping a friend of mine put his costume together and these made great birthday presents.

What to use for rod in 1989 batman cape?

I'm working on a cape for a local charity that does a lot of kid's events. I'm wanting to put in a rod of some sorts in the front panels so that the actor can lift the cape for pictures but I'm coming up short on what to use. My first guess was dowel rods but I'm worried that one thin enough...

    Spider-man (Raimi) 3D Print Files/Pattern - FREE

I'm definitely seeing that! I was a bit intimidated about sewing with lycra but it rather does look like my next print will be with FOD. I have seen a few folks have had issues with FOD printing darker than what was expected or printing the webbing way wrong. How can I tell what the CYMK...

    Spider-man (Raimi) 3D Print Files/Pattern - FREE

I need your advice! After adjusting the height I sent the symbiot pattern from this post to Zentai Zone for print. What I got back is way way waaaay lighter than what I expected. I know that different monitors can have a different calibration for color, but even after checking mulitple...

    Need Help: Spiderman Costume

Thanks! I'll try this for the next print. Edit: also, what about the width of the shoulders? Any advice there?

    Need Help: Spiderman Costume

I've checked the pattern on multiple monitors and it still looks way darker than what was printed. How much am I supposed to adjust and how can I tell? In what way did you change the measurement specifically? EDIT: I have a lot to learn, and I'd like to learn from my mistakes -- I'm just not...

    Need Help: Spiderman Costume

I'll check out reallifespidey, thanks. I expect to do a certain amount of work on the suit regardless, but it seems like a company would print the right color instead of customers having to take what they get and then doctor it. Yes and no about the size. Obviously we want it to be snug but...

    batman 89 cape pattern

You're mounting it to plywood? What for? I just recently had to draft a pattern for the 1989 cape for a local. Here's what I've come up with. If anyone else reads this and finds a glaring mistake I've missed, or details about the original I’m not aware of please point it out! Per Propstore's...

    Need Help: Spiderman Costume

I just got a custom symbiot spiderman suit (using kenlandrum's pattern; thanks Ken!) from Zentai zone. The color was waaaaay lighter just out of the package. I gave them what I thought were accurate measurements but the suit came back literally skin tight. It's sort of a bummer since their...

    batman 89 cape pattern

Wow this is late on my part. Personally I think somewhere in between is best simply because you want to be able to move without tripping. I found this promo pic for the original movie (lot good it'll do you now) http://wagthemovie.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/batman2.jpeg

    Yee's Ultimate Spider-Man and TASM2 Latex Project

Thank you for this thread! This is actually helping me get a game plan for a Raimi symbiote suit coming up very soon. I was wondering (as I can't tell in the photo and in case I missed it) what brand of latex paint are you using?

    Classic Maleficent Costume Build

I *love* your choice of fabric here. Disney costumes are often visually boring (i.e. blocks of color, not a lot of detail) by necessity of animation budget and time. It's really refreshing to see you bring this costume to life with some texture and pattern!
