I later painted the base a steel grey, and added copper nail details.
The wood of the "bolt" is actually the handle of my saw. It broke near the end of the build, so I retired it.
Back-quarter view. The tall portions that hold the cartridges are made from vintage video game light pistols. I felt like that was a cool callback.
The metal bits, barrel, and strange forward assembly were all from a vintage golf caddie. The polished cone is a light fixture.

The dials are simply printed on good quality paper. Under glass they look like the real thing. I pulled the dial housing from some old clocks.
The big gear is from an antique phone. The steel mounting is from an old sewing machine. Total coincidence that they fit perfectly both to each other,
