Mad Max: Fury Road

its well known a mass of multiple reshoots were done for this film, im just not certain what could be done to pull it out of the state its in minus cutting entire characters as prior mentioned and changing the plot. The over use of CGI is that of a teenage boy first discovering online porn. Just over the top with no filter completely removing the MM element. If anyone recalls Miller saying that after he had seen the Phantom Menace he could now make the MM movie he had always wanted. As all prior films were grounded, the CGI is vomit worthy. I feel as if that gorgeous girl in high school had called looking for a hot date 30 years later only to find out she had ten kids and grew larger than a VW van.

I was afraid, repulsed, mildly intrigued, guardedly optimistic...but now I'm thoroughly back in the afraid camp. Shame. But the fat lady hasn't sung yet, I guess, and I can always ignore its existence I suppose.

My enthusiasm for this pretty much died when I saw the trailer. The look and feel are so far off from what a MM movie should be it's kind of sad. I also have no desire to see a rewrite of the history of Max, I want to go forward with the story not back.

I'm still up for it, in an alternative universe kind of way.

That's how i'm viewing it too. Though seeing more about the movie makes me wonder about the tie-in video game that is supposed to be coming out, not sure what it'll be like if the movie is a giant chase scene.

I was afraid of it being to over the top and cartoony. I was getting that vibe from the trailer but was surprised that no one else was talking about it.

Sad to have it verified now.

Having said that, I thought Thunderdome was pretty awful, so it's not like my heart is broken or anything. MM and RW are two of the all time great action movies, and they can stand on their own without anything shaking them from their (VERY high) pedestal. Would I have liked to get back to the low budget, anarchic, independent, punk rock garage band aesthetic of the first two? Sure. But you can't go home again, I guess. Overproduced and slick is the name of the game these days. It's a pity.

That's about where I come out on it. Thunderdome is weak. Not unwatchable, but really not great. The first two, though, are genius as action films.

And I heartily agree with your point that "you can't go home again." I wish Hollywood AND the fans (especially the fans) would realize this and stop trying to chase the high they got the first time they saw this or that film.

Yeah, we do kinda have ourselves to blame for some of these things...

Well, I don't want it to be a stinker. Lets hope Miller is not intending for the final cut of the film to contain an hour of Max as a hood ornament.

aw,come on guys have a little faith.george miller is great film maker and i don't think he is gonna let us down.
so far i like what i've seen and i'm looking forward to see the film.:popcorn

I think they could go home again had the director gone back to his roots but he's forgotten those roots and would rather make a lackluster big budget movie.

There really is only one Mad Max movie, sequel is fine on its own merits but really it is a stretch to link it to the original story. Thunderdome is just ridiculous.

Come on guys, Thunderdome was a lot of fun when we all saw it on the 80's, I liked it.

I don't find Thunderdome utterly without merit, but following the other two...it just isn't even in the same league. If I'm in a Max mood, I'll still watch it, and I definitely enjoyed it as a kid. But I still think it's generally pretty bad. I think if it didn't have to compare with the first two, I'd be much more forgiving of its quirks.
