I am makng everything from scratch which is challenging to say he least.
Abby a question for you I cant find any reference to the quilting on sateles tights, what I have found is that there is quilting but not how much & how far apart are they. Help please.

Oh, goodness, so many talented ladies!

I'm Hanna, and most people call me Hans. I started cosplaying 7 years ago, and majored in art in college. It was this last year that I made the leap and started doing armor. I started with two full Destiny Titan armor sets for my boyfriend and myself. Currently, I'm working to perfect these, and making some legendary armor pieces as well. So you'll probably catch me trolling through threads of Destiny builds, and asking for advise or offering what little knowledge I have.

do you have a thread for those Titan sets? I'm making one for myself and you know, research and inspiration and whatnot. I wish there were more destiny builds on this site lol

Hello! I'm a lady person who loves to make costumes and learn new techniques for making. I like to use a term from Adam Savage and call myself a "serial skill collector". Some of the techniques I use in my work are sewing, metalsmithing (jewelry scale), electronics/arduino, sculpting, and I've just started to work with molding/casting, thermoplastics, and foam. I'm working up the guts to post about some of my costumes here on the RPF. In the meantime, you can see some of my projects on my tumblr. I hope to share a couple of interesting things I've learned, and pay back a little for what I've learned from everyone here :) Cheers!

Here's a picture of me in my Jawa costume at Emerald City Comicon. I call this shot, "Rogue One: Jawa Outtake" :)

Welcome, no need to be nervous about posting your work on here, the guys and gals here are very nice and only only ever give constructive advice if needed, your java looks pretty cool can't wait to see some of your other works.

I've always wanted to post here, but never managed to! I'm much more comfortable with props and armor, so that's the majority of what I make. I'm a terrible seamstress, but still try to sew everything I wear (thought the quality is questionable). Costume's I've made for friends have been altered thrift-store clothing - altered, dyed, painted. Always trying to learn new techniques that cut costs, because things can get so expensive...

A few recent projects:

I am no longer allowed to make props like I used to :(

Combine a fairly severe allergy to epoxy with fragile skin and a completely crap immune system and you have specialists throwing the terms "fingers have very little flesh" and "osteomyelitis" at you and you start to take it seriously :/ Especially after having to deal with year long infections in lungs, sinuses, skin in the past.

So I have learned some 3D file making and testing print files over several platforms for small projects I just to mold and cast, and have bought some polymorph pellets to prototype. I can still do leather forming, and can still scratch build from PVC sheets and pipes but it's still a bit risky.

But I do really need to stay away from urethanes and polyester resins where possible too.

I had to clear my workroom of anything that has been exposed to epoxy, and even just moving the bag of cabosil was a bit not great ;)

So I've also had to get real about projects and work on ones that will give me good wear for a few years. But otherwise yep, I make everything I wear and hold or glue to myself as prosthetics ;)

Hey, I'm Jade... And I'm kinda new at this whole making thing...
I'm currently working on a DL-44 blaster using a rubies blaster base but making major modifications to it.
You can check out the progress if you'd like right here: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=263671&p=4028367#post4028367
cheers.

oh and if anyone has a good suggestion for something easy to sew I'd love the help. I've just bought a sewing machine, and I'm hoping I can pick up where I left off in grade 8 sewing... Probably not seeing that was an era ago.

Hi I'm new here and to propmaking/costume building in general. Just wanted to say I am excited to be getting into this. I am a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none and I like to poke my hand into every art and crafty cookie jar. Fallout is my main squeeze at the moment, but I love LotR/Hobbit, Dr. Who (Matt Smith was my favorite), Nintendo stuff, and a lot of cartoons. Happy to see so many women making stuff!

Hi I'm Brian and I like boobs. Am I doing this right? ;)

Its awesome to see so many talented ladies on this site doing what they do. Cheers ladies!

Oh man you guys are awesome. I am Otto and I am completely new to making things (I took sewing classes in high school so I have a basic sewing knowledge). I have been heavily into Harry Potter since the books came out in '97 and heavily into fantasy geekery since before that. I am only just getting back into cosplay after being heavily made fun of in school for wearing custom made Hufflepuff robes to school when I was 16 (I'm 28 now). I have purchased my fabric, sorted out my pattern, figured out my sewing machine, and I am beginning my journey. I guess I shouldn't leave out that I have been doing all sorts of makeup semi-professionally for 10+ years. But that's all I've got at the moment. Thanks for sharing all of your cool things and I look forward to seeing more!

~softly clears her throat~ i am woman hear me roar? seriously though, i am just working on my first ever attempt at a Cos-Play costume.... my version of the Courier from Fallout: New Vegas. i am also new here and looking for all the support and assistance i can get. so off the bunny trails....... May everyone have a great day........ and Boobies rock!

Hello, everyone! I'm very new to the forums, but glad to see so many people supporting each other in this thread.

I've made costumes and sewn projects off and on for over a decade (my Grandmom used to make me Disney costumes, and taught me to sew). I'm working on a few projects.

Star Wars: Lumiya, and a few of Padme's outfits (Red Invasion, Snowbunny)

Misc.: Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas

I'm thinking of possibly starting to take commissions for the first time this year, so that is exciting.

Best of luck to everyone on their projects!

I like making a lot of props. My favorite are my Catwoman claws. She's my main cosplay. I've also made a Dr. Strange cloak that took months (before the movie was out), a Kylo Ren costume which I wear with a binder (pleating is the eighth layer of hell), a bowcaster for my boyfriend's Chewie, and a ton more. I made the "Stank" bubble gun for my friend's Iron Man costume for his birthday. Some more of my stuff can be seen here.

Hello! My name is Kerrie and I am also one of those of the female variety! :)

After graduating from a model making university course I have decided to jump into the cosplay scene. I'm very new to all this so I'm still learning as I go but my first costume will be the 1987 RoboCop! (Not at all girly I know ahaha, but feminine isn't my thing, I wanna be a police robot! Lol) I'm only 5ft 2 so I know I'm way too short for the character but to be honest I don't care, I'm too short for most things and there's nothing I can do about that besides stilts.

Eventually I hope to try my hand at creature suit making! I'm talking Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, Gigan, Velociraptors and maybe a dragon or two!
