This is simply gorgeous and the stand and sounds are inspired! My heart skipped a beat with the FTL jump in the vid as well.

I wanted to try and build a stand would compliment the kit but not overpower it

Very, very nice.

Only possible downside I can see is that the base may interfere with your being able to carry it around the room as if it were flying while making a whooshing noise.
