[WIP] Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - Now on duct tape dummy

Re: [WIP] Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - HUGE update *PIC HEAVY*

@Helagak, I know I can do it. I have a lot of inspirations here in RPF. You're actually one of them. Ü

Re: [WIP] Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - HUGE update *PIC HEAVY*

just a tip, make sure you're using a sharp edged blade. Cutting rubber usually makes the blade dull in time. And also regarding the gluing, I see you are having trouble making clean glued edges. Cyanoacrylate adhesives usually dry up immediately, so make sure they are aligned perfectly before applying the adhesive. Once they're dry, just use a tissue paper to wipe the excess. If they already dried (usually forms a white crystal thinggy) just sand it off using a fine grit sandpaper so the seam will not be obvious. Once sanded, you can use Stikwell or any brand of woodglue to the seams so they'll look like they weren't even glued together. It takes some patience and a steady hand to do but once you got the hang of it it'll work out for the best.

Hope that helps. :thumbsup

I also started sealing using acrylic emulsion, it's like PVA glue with a more "sour" smell. It smells like expired milk!

Foam without seal

Foam with seal (3 coats, 1 hour in between coats - and yes it's the other side of the foam without seal)

Paint test

For the paint, I used a bronze RJ London Acrylic Epoxy Spray Paint, just like what Don Robert and Roy used on there suits.

Re: [WIP] Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - SUIT UP (upper body) *PIC HEAVY*

The paint doesn't have any primer, it's just pure acrylic emulsion.
I'm planning to have a white primer to bring out the color.

I also got myself 5/8 in. chicago screws.
Here's a test of the screw with 3 foams in between.

For the suit, I only used 2 foams (biceps and forearm parts) since using 3 would make it tighter.

Men it's so hot inside the suit!!!
But it's so cool I tried wearing it for 30 mins.

I haven't glued the abs yet, I need an assistant to help me hold it so I can measure where I need to put the velcro.

As for the connections, I used Stealth's tip from his video.
Thank you Stealth for your tips.

Thanks to quovadis0920, roy and Helagak as well for sharing tips!

The shoulders are killing me! I think I need to put 2 straps just to be sure it stays in place!!!

Re: [WIP] Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - SUIT UP (upper body) *PIC HEAVY*

Hey guys what's up, I edited my first post for the scaling, but anyway, I'm posting it here for bryanjas.

Chest 25.41% - got the scale by measuring my chest width, 42 cm (includes 2cm allowance)
Back 25.41% - used chest scale
Abs 25.27% - got it by my abs width, 33 cm (includes 2cm allowance)
Shoulders 23.42% - this one is trial and error
Biceps, Forearms - I used the same scale as the shoulders
Thigh - 21.57% - this one gave me a headache. First, I got a scale of 20.578% by using the height of my thighs (37cm including 2cm allowance, width automatically adjusted to 16.8cm), I tried wearing it using a paper test but man, it only goes through half of my thighs, so what I did was to use the width instead, 17.7cm (including 2 cm allowance) and got the scale.
Shin - used the same scale as the thighs

Re: [WIP] Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - SUIT UP (upper body) *PIC HEAVY*

The weather is not cooperative today! I started sealing some parts outside, it started to rain so I placed the parts inside the house, including the chairs and clothes hanger stand that I used. Then it stopped raining.
