[WIP] Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - Now on duct tape dummy

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP

hot glue gun ?....if your glue is 'burning' your foam STOP USING IT! -

Otherwise glad you have joined in! :)

It's not really burning with fire, it's like melting, but the aftermath is like it burned from fire. it's hard to explain but well you can see the join sections from the pics.

Use hot glue not super glue.

Yeah, I might try to use glue gun, but some local cosplayers recommend the super glue that I'm using. but i'm open for changes, after all everyone is using glue gun here. :p

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP

by the way, the glue I'm using is Greco Super Glue commonly used for foam slippers, rubber shoes and the like. It's Cyanoacrylate.

Here is a picture of the glue:

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP

Hot glue is the way to go, it seals very quickly and it has the added benefit of removal if you screw up and reset it, Win Win.

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP

Err, have to work overtime! But I will try to spend at least an hour later and use the glue gun that my mom gave me.

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP

Late update here, I've decided to use the remaining super glue to glue the collar and 2nd set of the ribs.

I still need to "shape" the right rib part though.

Hopefully tomorrow, I can buy a glue stick and put together the biceps.

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP

My connections are so bad. Hopefully after bondo, I could sand it smoothly!

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP - PIC HEAVY!

Sorry for the late update.
Had a lot of things to do.

Here's an update for the left bicep.
I had a problem with the hot glue and the foam that I'm using.
It sticks but after a day, it "unglues" by itself.
So I went back to super glue. Well that works for me, so I think I'm gonna go with super glue until I finish this armor.

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP - PIC HEAVY!

I'm hoping I can finish the other biceps tomorrow and the 2 shoulders before the week ends.

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP - PIC HEAVY!

Good work bro, keep up the good work! Obs.: I use cyanoacrilate too, mine is a special one used for foam, leather and plastics in general. The seems are better than with hot glue. I
usually i use hot glue in the back of the piece after finishing the job, to reinforce only.

Thanks TAZNITBR! The only problem with the super glue is the fumes. It smells bad and gets me high after sniffing a lot. :lol

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP - PIC HEAVY!

Just bought an X-acto knife! At last! It's really faster to cut now.
I'm planning to finish the shoulders and forearms this weekend.
I'll be posting pics on Monday.

Re: Iron Man Mk 6 Foam Build - WIP - PIC HEAVY!

Just finished the 2 shoulders, biceps, and forearms.
I will try my best to post the pics tomorrow.

Almost done with the top part.
