Warcraft Lich King build

OK. So. Where to begin.

I am what would popularly be refered to as a "Suckah"

So I'm making real chaiinmail for the guy. And since theringlord couldn't supply what I wanted, due to it all being out of stock, my right brain half decided it would be an excellent idea to make my own! So a hundred thousand meters (or 15) of wire later, I have a few test pieces made.

But does it stop there? Nooo, of course not. While the left half is still subdued by the dopamine from crafting satisfaction, the right one decides 'King's mail' would look much better.

And...

It does.

It's just twice as many rings, double the weight and four times the work :p Yeah. I suck.

I've also amused myself by comparing my own body build to that of Arthas, simply by painting his proportional costume on top of myself. I find it a great way to define what stuff you'll need and hit some of the proportional problems.

For example, the Lich king's pualdrons vary greatly in size. On the latest statue, the right pualdron goes from halfway up his head to his bellybutton (WTF, Blizzard?). While in the cinematic trailer for Wrath of the Lich King, the pualdrons look almost normal. Regardless, I'll be facing the same problem that Space Marines have, shoulders twice as wide as your hips. And, sadly, I'm not built like Shwarzenegger.

But at least I've been able to start the foamwork!

Humongous size, though. I dunno what Blizzard was thinking when they decided the shoulder was the most important part of the body...

I see I haven't really followed up on this thread. But I was busy building half a dragon...

Anyways, I've made some progress, slowly knitting myself a pair of chain-briefs.

Heaviest pants I've ever worn.

I've also tried my hand at sculpting, since Frostmourne hungers for completion.

Basically just tin foul base and Super Sculpey on top. No fancy tools, just pens and brush ends and a ridiculous ambition. But for a first sculpting attempt, I'm impressed of the result.

The work on Frostmourne goes on! I've cast and moulded the skull and started decorating the handle with mostly filleted google eyes. The electronics are finally put away inside the handle and works wonders. Crossbar skull is sculpted as well and is resting in a bed of curing silicone for duplication.

The light is configured to only fade on only if it's the Lich King that holds the sword :) Couldn't figure out how to embed the video, but here's the link to it, at least.

Success! The skull cast came out perfectly! It was my very first two part silicone mould, so I had some issues at first. Considering I was using tin foil, blue tack and googly eyes to make the split plane I guess it was understandable...
But I progress a little each day! I have been using a lot of thinking time to figure out how to make stiff, tough and durable horns for the skull and in the end I made them from a steel rod, aluminum foil and masking tape, covering it with worblapie afterwards. The texture was made by reheating the worblapie surface and winding a string around the horn.

Heh, heh, careful what you wish for ;-)

Since I started building this sword, the temperature of my loft has risen by some 15 degrees. So I took it up to better the metal coat of the blade yesterday. Big improvement :)
