Re: Star Trek TOS Enterprise Wood Sculpt - test nacelle pull

Pretty convincing effect. Can you get better pictures?

Sure. How's this (not taken with my phone this time)?

Thanks guys. Your generous feedback means a great deal. A small update -I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

More to come...

Re: Star Trek TOS Enterprise Wood Sculpt - test nacelle pull

Despite my best laid plans, real life has taken over. On an airplane to San Fran tomorrow morning for the rest of the week (and pretty much the next 4 months). I'd hoped to get the first part of the molds poured today, but I need to get packed and ready.

That said, a little more progress was made.

Hopefully more to come this weekend.

Re: Star Trek TOS Enterprise Wood Sculpt - Molding!

Funny how next weekend becomes several months later.... ;)

All the molds are complete and I cast, assembled and painted my first attempt.

What do you think?

What did you use as a model for this sculpture? 3d image or a replica model? I want to make another Trek ship but need directions to get started. Please advise. Thanks!

Thanks for your interest. I have an 18" AMT model that I completed a few years ago that I used a reference.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful work. You mentioned Dremel, did you use it for the entire project or just the sanding?

Sorry, I went back through my thread but don't see where I mention a dremmel. My primary tools on the build were a band saw, belt sander, and palm sander. And lots of hand sanding ;)

Revisiting an old project. I built this Enterprise as a master to create resin copies, I figured it was time to clean it up, stain it and display it. It's still a work in progress, but the staining is coming along nicely.
