What a small world. I'm building a Visor using Drew's plans on thingiverse, but had no idea it was from this community (I should have known!) I sent it off to shapeways for printing and it came back really nice. I've made a few small tweaks; I used brass rods instead of tube and drilled holes through the top to make it easier to set the rods.
Strangely enough, the day the shapeways package arrived, LeVar Burton was in my office. I showed the unfinished pieces to him and he was quite impressed. The plastic is a lot lighter than the one he wore for the show (he says that the original was made of metal and quite heavy). But anyway, i wanted to say thanks for the design and here are a few pics of the work in progress.

Does anybody have a paper template of this visor so i can trace it onto wood and make one? I dont have access to a 3d printer...
