Space Cowboys ship, Battle Beyond the Stars FINISHED!

Re: Space Cowboys ship, Battle Beyond the Stars PART ID HELP NEEDED :)

Thanks, Lee! While I am going ahead with the Williams Brothers part for me, I wouldn't mind a bit if a better part is found! And, yet another kit ID! From the Tamiya 20mm Flak38 Sd.Ah.52, sprue F, part #19:

I was merely going to edit the above post to add better images, but, I'm apparently more inept with editing options than I thought I was. So: now with more useful images! The front view shows where the Flak38 protrudes from the port side, and, the sprue shot is better at illustrating the part match.

All of the Williams Brothers cylinders are now trimmed and ready for glue.

Re: Space Cowboys ship, Battle Beyond the Stars PART ID HELP NEEDED :)

These cylinders are looking good and will do the job.
But the fins on the original part are way thicker with a rounded, less sharp/ pointy edge and they´ve got 9 fins only (vs. 11 on yours).

I´d really recommend to look into the bellows as an alternative

More (tentative!) parts ID's... For the cylindrical tanks on the landing legs, the Monogram 1/48 scale 500lb bomb is nearly a match in size and shape. They were certainly available in the late 1970's! The various B-17 versions had them, and well as the 1/48 B-29 kit. I am not saying "Eureka! This is the part!" because I don't know that. But it's the closest kit part that I have seen so far. Also, the Space Shuttle with a Shuttle Bay interior became available by 1978 from Revell; possibly Monogram and Airfix. The exterior of the Akir Weather Satellite certainly has one of these parts!

Re: Space Cowboys ship, Battle Beyond the Stars PART ID HELP NEEDED :)

While looking through my RTF Prison Barge references, in the old Aurora / Esci 1/72 Elefant kit sprues I saw what appears to be a match for the odd two-dial box on the starboard side on the cab:

Well look at that!
Just ordered one, so hopefully more pieces are used :)

Re: Space Cowboys ship, Battle Beyond the Stars PART ID HELP NEEDED :)

I looked and didn't see this elsewhere in the thread unless I missed it on my tiny screen, but thought that you guys might be interested.

Battle Beyond the Stars is currently available on Netflix.

Cheers

Lee, I'm hoping that the 88mm rounds make up that row of mystery cylinders from the belly of the cargo sectiion. Azrok -- Thanks for the the info!

And a bit of progress: the leg engine cylinder tanks are at 90% completed, and the four engines are closer to done!

And a big step: attaching the angle-cut leg tubes to the finned engines. And then spot-checking the accuracy with a greeblie strut matched to the picture:

Re: Space Cowboys ship, Battle Beyond the Stars PART ID HELP NEEDED :)

And so it begins!!! Taking to Wonderfest??
That is the plan at this point! This weekend I have to make the decision about trying to light it -- I have a simple grain-o-wheat bulb strand set that would do me just fine, if the was any *censored* room left inside the cab area! :)

Re: Space Cowboys ship, Battle Beyond the Stars PART ID HELP NEEDED :)

I don't light many miniatures, but I think this one is a must for the cockpit atleast :)
