New York Comic Con 2014 NYCC

Accommodation almost sorted. I managed to get a pro pass so have my Friday and Sunday pass to get rid of if anyone is stuck.

If i can get my skyrim armor done ill wear that, if not ill be going as Riddick so shall catch up with a few of you there hopefully.

Hi everyone! I'm going Fri-Sun. Not sure what I'm wearing Friday, but Saturday I'll be "rule 63" Star-Lord (most likely dancing next to a Groot, Rocket and Ronan all day lol) and Sunday I'm wearing Kitty Pryde (hence the Lockheed avatar pic :) )

I'll be there on Saturday as Groot :) I'll have a Rocket Raccoon plush to go along with me as well. Hope to see some Guardians of the Galaxy cosplayers there as well

Fantastic suit!

I got selected for NYCC Crew this year. Decided to apply when I couldn't get tickets. I went once in 2012 and had a blast :)

Anyone else working NYCC this year? I've never done it before and I'm wondering if anyone has some tips :)

is anyone else thinking this will be their LAST NYCC?

The guest list this year is so sub par, on a SATURDAY panel, they have "The Adventures of Captain Cocoa". that's a ZOO mascot. Also, on their main page, they are promoting no name 'sexy' cosplayers as main guests. And by 'sexy', I mean women with fake attributes in costumes that look like they got bought off a K-Mart Rack. That weird Ivy doomkitty who probably shouldn't be wearing skimpy costumes at her size, and someone by the name of 'holly hocks' (porn name if I ever heard one) are two prime examples.

Also tired of this New York Super Week thing. That STar trek panel should have been in the main NYCC lineup. Instead, you have to pay an EXTRA $174 and go to a different part of the city to boot. heh, even funnier, imagine paying that just to see patrick stewart talk, and then find out they announced he was doing a panel anyway this saturday for the price of a NYCC ticket?

Finally, the WEIRDEST new change....WRISTBANDS are now required for main stage events? I'm not sure if you need one wrist band for each panel, but if you do, imagine first waiting in line for the con, THEN waiting in line for an hour or two for your wrist band, and THEN hanging out by the main stage door for another hour, hoping you got back in time to get to the front of the line.

I also heard they may have changed how the autographing works, but I'm HOPING it's a no hastle, just wait in line until you get there scheme.

The problem with a con getting too big, is they get dumber. it's already so crowded that you feel like cattle, now they are just making itm ore confusing.

test run for Friday.... I buy comic art and dress like a madman, so I could care less about bracelets , patrick stewart and lines for panels. Ill be back again and again....

Looking good Tony! Hopefully see you there Friday. Not quite ready with our costumes, but will post pics when they're done.

Doubtful. Reed makes $ off this show like they were printing it.

Agreed though that the attendance has become oppressive. It's so jammed everywhere that it's hard to navigate the floor and takes substantial time to get anywhere inside the building. You need 20-30 minutes to get to a panel that distance-wise is no more than an escalator and a short walk away. Unfortunately, Javits is too small but there's no bigger venue in the immediate area to accommodate a gathering that large.

FYI: The NYC area is expecting rain on Friday into Sat, so if you're coming from outside the immediate area, pack a small umbrella or a jacket. Temps are supposed to be in the mid 60s, so perfect.
