I.C.S.S Wayfarer Mission To Mars Report Binder

SeaQuest-DSV-I-C-S-S-Wayfarer-Mission-To-Mars-Report-Binder-1.jpg

This report binder was used during the first season episode "Better Than Martins'. It has a I.C.S.S Wayfarer Mission To Mars Logo stuck onto the front of the binder and is one of 3 binders used in the episode. The contents of the binder however an random sheets of paper with grid data recordings. mechanical illustrations and a complete Palm Springs Police report with doctor's notes for some domestic abuse file which have nothing to do with the episode at all. These binders were seen in the wardroom when Captain Bridger and the President of the United States are discussing how they are to rescue the Wayfarer astronauts who are trapped in their sinking shuttle craft.

Lucas's Magnum Condom Wrapper

SeaQuest-DSV-Lucas-s-Magnum-Condom-Wrapper-1.jpg

Another one of the Jonathan Brandis used props, this time its a magnum condom wrapper which was used in the 1st season episode "Abalon". Lucas is planning to attend a frat party where a girl he likes is going to be attending and so he asked Lt. Kriegg for some protection just in case he does something stupid. Later in the episode when Lucas has returned to the Seaquest, he is called to Captain Bridges quarters to discuss punishment for lieing to the captain. When Bridger asks for the stingers keys Lucas drops out of his pocket the condom wrapper onto the floor right in front of Captain Bridger who then picks it up and hands it back to Lucas.

UEO Officer Dress Fatigue's (Commander Jonathan Ford)

SeaQuest-DSV-UEO-Officer-Dress-Fatigue-s-Commander-Jonathan-Ford-1.jpg

The first big name character costume I have ever brought from the show. This costume was apparently worn by Dom Franklin who played Commander Jonathan Ford and is a season 2 UEO dress uniform. The costume came with a cream coloured dress shirt with Commander rank patches all included. Also included were a matching pair of cream colour dress pants sized at 38 and a black colour canvas belt with gold plated buckle. The uniform was were in 3 different episodes during the second season including Something In The Air, Blindsided and Alone. The costume is missing a pair of brown colour leather shoes and a special officers name badge.

This costume has the name Vargus written inside the pants lining and from what I've been told this costume could have been worn by an extra in the last episode of the show who played the part of a Commander Vargus. Also the character polaroid that came with the costume is of a season 1 uniform which has slight differences in the colour sections of the dress shirt and so some questions regarding who actually wore this costume still remain unanswered.

Seaquest DSV Officer's Combat Fatigue Jacket

SeaQuest-DSV-Seaquest-DSV-Officer-s-Combat-Fatigue-Jacket-1.jpg

This is a standard blue comabt fatigue shirt worn by Seaquest personnel during land based missions. Worn by an extra it is a XL sized shirt and comes with a Seaquest and UEO patch set. These fatgue shirts would be accompanied by a matching pair of blue coloured fatigue pants and a black tactical vest which I have sourced a replica belt from ebay to further complete the costume.

Seaquest DSV Crew Arctic Snow Jacket

SeaQuest-DSV-Seaquest-DSV-Crew-Arctic-Snow-Jacket-1.jpg

A militry grade snow jacket which was using during the 1st and 3rd season of the show. This jacket comes with a Seaquest and UEO logo patches and is labeled as a Arctic Parka Flight Type jacket and has a fake fur lined hood and is designed for extreme cold weather conditions. In the first season these jackets were using the episode "Games" where the crew of the Seaquest worn these jackets to keep them warm while they lowered the temperature inside the Seaquest to slow a war criminal named Dr Rubin Zeller from taking over the ship and firing nuclear weapons at UEO headquarters.

In the 3rd season episode title "In The Company Of Ice and Profit" Captain Hudson and a small shore party wear these jackets while they are investigating a large iceberg floating into the Arabian Sea which they find has a large group of Macronesia refugees camping out on it.

Computer Keyboard

SeaQuest-DSV-Computer-Keyboard-1.jpg

This compact computer keyboard was one of many used during the 2nd and 3rd seasons of the show. It has a full set of working keys and small adjustable legs at the back of the board to raise the angle of the keyboard by 30 degrees if needed. The power and connector cords have been cut off at the base of the board and there are small adhesive strips on the back of the board indicating it was stuck down to something during the show.

I believe that the location of this keyboard was on the main bridge of the Seaquest on one of the side computer stations facing the captains chair.

UEO Peacekeeper Uniform

SeaQuest-DSV-UEO-Peacekeeper-Uniform-1.jpg

This is a UEO Peacekeeper uniform used during the 3rd season of the show. The uniforum comes with a cream coloured fatigue jacket which has a UEO logo patch on the RH side shoulder. A pair of cream coloured fatigue pants which are a size L. The costume is however missing 3 addons which are a cream coloured tactical nylon belt, a blue coloured beret hat and a blue coloured arm band both of which display the peacekeeper patch.

These costumes were worn in 2 episodes, the first was Brave New World where you could see the UEO peacekeeper soliders hugging civilains from the Nexus colony which the Seaquest and its crew liberated from the Macronesia Alliance. In the other episode titled "Brainlock", UEO Peacekeepers were station at a secret UEO facility to provide sercuity for the world leaders during a UEO senate meeting.

Seaquest Warning Label (Glass Breach)

SeaQuest-DSV-Seaquest-Warning-Label-Glass-Breach-1.jpg

This is one of the Isolation room warning labels that can been seen thorought all 3 season of the show. The isolation room was located on the Seadeck of the Seaquest and each window had one of these warning labels stuck to it. The episode these warning labels can be viewed the most was in the 1st season "Give Me Liberte" when a research team and some members of the Seaquest crew are put into isolation when they give 6 dead researchers in a undersea research station they boarded.

This particular warning label is not used during the show as it has spelling mistakes in it and was given as a gift to a friend of one of the members from the art department.

The two words spelled incorrectly were chief and ascertain. Which were spelled cheif and assertain.

I'll add a little to your Seasuit post:

The season 1 black uniforms had been received poorly by cast and crew. The producers referred to them as 'potato sacks'. They were modified off-the-rack flightsuits, although they were tailored to the main cast and guest stars. (Roy Shieder's however were custom made).

So when season 2 pre-production began, a new design was required of the new costume designers Ingrid Price and Andrea Mol, resulting in the 'seasuit' as it was called internally. The season 1 flightsuits were all stripped of their insignia patches and boxed up. Those patches were used on the new seasuits in the same configuration as on the season 1 uniforms. A few of the season 2 black uniforms appeared in season 3 as subfighter pilot flighsuits and one was worn by returning season 1 character Ben Krieg in the episode "Of Ice and Profit".

The two vests we saw attached to the Seasuit shoulder straps during the run of the show were the tactical/work vest and the orange survival vest (seen only once). The uniform was a nice versatile design that featured clips on the inside and outside of the bicep to hold the sleeves rolled up. At the beginning of season 2, the initial run of seasuits for the main cast and extras were made by Walt Disney World Costuming as they were the largest costume shop outside of Miami at the time (and a 20 minute drive from the SQ production at Universal Studios). Later sometime during season 2 or 3 (I think it was 3, but don't recall exactly), an additional smaller batch of seasuits was made by another costume company. All the seasuits contain a tag in the collar indicating which costume shop it came from.

Here is an album of one of the seasuits I own: its an extras suit (made identical to the hero suits) and includes a work vest and an orange survival vest.

Seaquest Officer's Seasuit Uniform (LT. JR)

http://www.yourprops.com/movieprops...eaquest-Officer-s-Seasuit-Uniform-LT-JR-1.jpg

My first ever complete uniform this Seaquest Seasuit as they are called was worn by an extra and was the standard uniform for UEO personnel serving abroad the Seaquest DSV. This uniform came with a complete set of Lieutenant Junior rank patches and is a size 36. The costime has 3 sets of pockets and clips on the upper sleeves to allow the sleeves to be rolled up and locked into position. The costume is unfortunately missing a few addon's as well, including 4 shoulder straps which were used to attach to the costume a tactical vest and or a survival vest which are very rare. Also a black nylon tactical belt is missing but I have now sourced a replica belt to further complete the costume.

This costumes were used throughout the 2nd and 3rd seasons of the show by major and minor character's.

Thanks for that Mark, Very interesting to know the behind the scenes stuff on the show. Would have loved to be involved and even would have loved to be a part of the show but I was like 10 or 11 years old when the show first came to air. I was wrapped when I received my season 2&3 seasuit and I have worn it around the house a few times now and its a great unique costume. The tag on my seasuit says Mary Young Gordon and I purchased it off a guy from ebay who was selling another seasuit but I got outbid for it and he emailed me after the auction and offered to sell me 1 of 3 seasuits he still had at home. I went for the one with the highest rank of course and received it a week or 2 later.

I have looked up photos on your very cool complete Seasuit and I would love to have mine as complete as yours but It is near impossible to find seaquest props and costumes for sale anymore and as I live in Australia its even harder. Also the fact I have a wife, a newborn on the way and moving into a new house soon, money is not so readily available for me to spend on movie props anymore, but I try to when I can.

If I may ask Mark, any ideas about the cream dress fatgiue uniform story I posted, any chance where you there for the filming of the last episode and can shred some light on the possibility of an extra wearing a Don Franklin uniform??.

Every main cast member had at least 2 seasuits and (IIRC) 2 sets of 'khakis'. So your Don Franklin khaki shirt may or may not match any given screen shot. Also, the costume department put together as many complete costumes as possible for the end-of-show auction/sale. In some cases, they paired mis-matched pieces to complete a costume. Its likely that the Vargas pants were worn by the character your identified (guest actors/scripted characters had their costumes labeled like that frequently). Its also possible that those pants were worn by Don Franklin before or after they were used for Vargas, but put with the Don Franklin shirt because they knew this or they were simply the same size as Don's to complete the set. Does that make sense?

Absolutely jealous of you prop collector. That is an awesome collection you have there. I hope I can have a collection like that one day but finding seaquest props on a average budget is very hard to find these days. I can pick most of the props you have from various episodes including Bridger's UEO motor bike licence plate and boy some of them are like gold for a small time collector like me. One question why is there a GELF baby? Didn't they use a real baby for all the shots??

Thanks for the info Mark, yeah makes sense, I mean no one can really know unless I actually speak to the 2 actors themselves and then its been 20+ years since the show finished so I doubt they would even remember exactly what happened with the costume. Still I'm a thorough kind of person so I like to know the history of a prop as much as I can and that costume has the most unanswered questions. The auction tag it came with had a Disney price sticker on it as well so the mystery deepens the more I look at it.

I can explain the Disney price tag: after the auction, some of the SQ stuff ended up in the couple movie memorabilia stores at the Disney parks. There is one inside Disney Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney MGM Studios) and there used to be one in the 'Pleasure Island' nighttime entertainment area. Years after SQ ended, I would spot misc. items from the show at these stores; always made me laugh. I'm not sure if buyers from the Disney stores were at the auction (very possible), or they got stuff from others who were. Does any of your stuff have the blue COAs?

Mark

Well there you go, its such a pitty I couldn't find a random SQ prop or costume in one of the Disney stores when I was in Disney Land in LA last year, but the wife would have never let me buy it anyways lol. I just hope all of the SQ props and costumes have gone to good homes where they will be looked after to preserve the essence of the SQ universe which I find really cool and interesting.

Unfortunately no none of the SQ props I have collected have those really cool blue COA's which I was always wanted to have as I know they were original COA from the 1996 studio auction. The very first few props I collected had the original auction tags still attached to them but most of the props I have don't have any of the original tags and or COA's which isn't a big issue but like i said I love to be thorough with my SQ props and have gone to extreme lengths to find the correctly information regarding the prop and its location in the show.

Also does the Mary Young Gordon tag on my Seasuit mean anything to you, about its costume maker from the show?

cheers

Adam

Don't feel too bad about the COAs- I was actually the one making those in the last few days of my employment on the show! We had intentions of doing them for most everything, but the shear volume of costumes made it impossible (a 'uniform' show always generates lots of wardrobe!). I ended up just doing them for the 'hero' costumes, and even then not everything each 'hero' character wore.

Yes, the Mary Young Gordon tag was the other costume supplier; where the second batch was made after Disney Costuming. I couldn't remember the name of the costume shop until you posted it, but that's the one. So in a way, you have one of the 'slightly rarer' costumes since fewer were made of those than the Disney batch.

You are a wealth of SQ knowledge Mark, Really glad to have read all your post regarding the stuff you did and know about the show. I really appreciate all of the feedback and comments about my SQ collection and all of the info you have given me is invaluable and I hope you will be able to share more as time goes by.

Thank you for the info on my Seasuit, It put a smile on my face to know my costume is slightly rarer then the Disney produced ones and though it is priceless to me one day when I die I can pass my collection onto my children who can either keep them and pass them on to their children or sell them to make some money for their future.
