Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Beauty & the Beast (Small Project)
Please read this introduction so that you won't go ..... "WTF :confused" ..... later :lol
The Mrs. has this tomato patch in the garden, which she planted herself. They are currently
huge bushes. It seems to be my fate every time I water them, to knock off a flower or two of theirs. Always accidental, I swear :lol. The flowers are what eventually will become the tomatoes of course, so each time it happens, because she knows
exactly where each and every one is flowering, I get very naughty words from her, cursing all my ancestors going back to Adam & Eve :lol

Some weeks ago I told you that I was working on a small project, that serves 2 purposes : a gift for the Mrs ..... and its a prop :lol
The time has come. Today is our anniversary, and tomorrow is the Mrs' birthday. It is my 'tradition' to give her a gift tonight
In the 1987-1990 version of the series Beauty & the Beast (Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman), Vincent goes deep down into the caverns to get a crystal to give to Catherine as a gift for it being a year since they had first met.
Vincent gives the crystal to "Mouse" to make a pendant of it, which he does and hangs it on a very delicate silver chain made of oval links. Catherine wears this throughout most of the series thereafter.
I also recall watery eyes from the Mrs. when we were watching this part :lol
I thought about how to get that look of the clasp part right, a sort of wrap around the crystal and with a border / bump / ledge at the top and bottom parts, and came up with this.
A roll of copper sheet, a roll of copper wire, and a crystal of course.
I wrapped a piece of copper sheet around the crystal in order to pre-mark the crystal's contours exactly.
Cut the sheet to size, and cut two strips of the wire.
I folded the copper sheet over the wire and pushed the underside of the sheet flush against the wire with a tiny piece of smooth plastic, so that the sheet would take the wire's shape.
Did the same with the second wire, turned the whole thing over, and again shaped the wire flush to the sheet, which I then sealed into place.
Cut the bottom wire extra bits.
Placed it back onto the crystal, and twisted the top uncut strands of wire together for the loop.
To get this
Fixed it to the crystal, bent the loop, and sealed it shut with a small piece of copper sheet.
That one is mine because its "screen-accurate" :cool
I made another one for the Mrs of course :lol.
I kept hers within the same concept, but on the artsy side, which I know she will like better
Rather more "straightforward", as it consists of wrapped copper wire, which I sealed off with a small sheet of copper like I did mine.
However, on both of them, the copper was way too new and shiny, so I gave them a few coats with "exhaust" paint.
And then sealed them both with matt varnish.
Here are both of them ready, each hung on a silver chain
A 'reminder' of the screencap of mine
And the replica
And the Mrs' one.
I will put this on her pillow later on, to find when she gets home
..... together with this birthday 'card' I made
Now, remember that tomato story :lol
..... and ignore the "K" :lol
I erased the PS on the pic ....... because its too personal :ninja
