My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival : The Godfather

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - Prop Room Overhaul - Finished

Up front ..... my apologies.

I swore no more paper props for me, but reaching the end of DS9 I am currently watching, I couldn't resist to add one more today :angel

I also couldn't resist getting this cutie, which arrived this morning.

And now, without further ado (drum roll), here is what I currently consider my prize prop replica :

From Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, I present to you Chilled Monkey Brains Head & Cup.

The Monkey Head is made by Sporak, and the cup is made by me :)

The build of the cup can be seen here

The Monkey head is something else again ! This must be one of Sporak's best builds.

The detail, texture and overall look are simply astounding !

Judge for yourselves.

Thank you Bill, you have made one of my dream props come true :thumbsup

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New - DS9, IDOJ, and a Monkey from Pankot came to di

Thanks !
Just read it...
I wish to have your skills !!!

Re: My Prop Replica Collection

Thank you sir !

... but they are not aaaaaall that good.

I really wouldn't know how to mold & cast that talon. The shape is too 'complex' for me :unsure

Re: My Prop Replica Collection

Man, We make a good team ;)
Actually a trio..Darth Cross sculpted it, I molded it and built it up. and you made the base...
Very nice combined effort I think...I still need to build a head for myself ;)

Yours is the only one I've seen that was the complete presentation...

About the talon...
Send it to me and I'll mold it...
No seriously :)

I'd do a 2 piece mold right across one talon up the leg and down the other side..pour from the top.

I wonder if that size and shape bowl are available here...I would guess so.

On the other hand ...you did a wonderful tutorial on the making of the base...and that is what I think I'm going to follow when I get to it.

Maybe post the link in this thread...

Re: My Prop Replica Collection

The build of the cup can be seen here

Much as I'd love to, I am 100% sure that the base would not survive the shipping :lol

Don't forget its air-dried clay :unsure. If it were oven-baked, it would be a different matter :)

Some Trivia : Popeye was filmed here in Malta. Today, 30 years down the line, the set is still preserved. It has been transformed into a fun park / tourist attraction. It is around 5-10 minutes away by car from where I live.

You can check it out here - Home - Popeye Village Malta

My late father-in-law (my wife's step-father) was Maltese, and I've been aware of the filming location for some time.

BUT...

I tried sitting through that movie as an adult, and GOOD GOD - I think I'd rather have a root canal! :confused

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New arrival - POPEYE - Dedicated to Jedifyfe

Alan,

I just sent you a PM, but I forgot to tell you how mind numbingly amazing your collection is. I'm completely in awe of what you have and how you have it displayed.

Also meant to thank you again for the grapa label. I ended up printing an 11" x 17" version of it to hang in my bathroom.

Oh its not aaaaaaaall that bad for a 1980 shot at the theme :lol

Yeah, quite a few movies shot all or part in Malta. Offhand

Troy
The Spy Who Loved Me
Shout at the Devil
Raise the Titanic
Alexander
Gladiator (Poor Oliver Reed even died here while filming. But he died happy :). In fact, in the last scene where they kill him, its not him)
The Mackintosh Man (my grandma actually played a part in that & had a few lines with Paul Newman)
Casino Royal (the old version)
Cutthroat Island
The Da Vinvi Code
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
David Copperfield
The Count of Monte Cristo
U-571
Clash of the Titans (old version)
Midnight Express
Munich

There are many others, but I can't remember them.

About Munich, Spielberg was actually 50 meters down the road from where I live, filming in an adjacent street.

I remember getting home from work one day, exhausted, and the buggers had actually shut the only access road to my home, quite a way from where the filming was actually being done.

I had a huge argument with the crew's security to bleeding well let me go HOME :lol, as I wouldn't even be passing through where they were filming. No luck with the 6-foot tall by 3-foot wide guys with radios, black t-shirts & in SUV's.

So I called the Mrs. from my cell phone & told her what was happening. She promptly went onto the balcony & started singing her lungs out that she wanted her husband hoooooooooome :lol

I heard some naughty words from the other street, and I was prompty let through.

I'll never forget that !

errr, that sort of eliminated the possibilty of asking for Spielberg's autograph though :lol

You have got what appears to be a dynamite collection. All your missing is a cow bell.
