Maltese Falcon

Any good reference images out there of the real thing? I started a digital sculpt a few days back. I have no plans to make/offer anything real from this digital replica attempt. I'm just very inspired by the quest and thought it would be a fun way to kill some time here and there.

Check this out: http://www.profilesinhistory.com/auctions/images/Auc7_158.jpg

I'm sure this will give you a bit more reference. Be sure to post what you're working on. I'd love to check it out.

Thanks for the expressed interest in the credential set, guys!

Kwall - doing some of the screen shown items, and some conjectured items - PI ticket, Driver's license ( styled after period docs ) and a few other bits. Also doing replicas of the senora notes like they used for money in the old films, size and all. Been a big labor of love - we've been tooling away for over a year now. Hopefully by this fall it will be close to completion. Eltee is one heck of a guy, knows his stuff - always a joy to "investigate" with him!

But not to hijack the thread - Adam, your work on your Falcon is a thing of beauty, as everybody agrees! I look forward to the ocassion when you're ready to do a small run! I need to replace my terrible e-bay falcon from years ago, and I'm not very good at sculpting, and after watching your interview about making yours, I don't even want to try!:lol

Hi Folks!
I want to make one by myself, but there is a great problem....
Can anyone tell me the exact measurements of this bird?
Thanks,
Peter

just wondering,if theres any progress on any of this:confused
i almost buy haunted studios's rep (because of their site's pic,not their e-bay store pic) because i thought they had fix their sculpt of the bird, but i guess they're still not right :confused right?

anybody had ref pic of the bird?
i only had the auction pic and some blurry screen caps

One of the Metal originals is on display at the Warner Museum, damn hard to get pics since it's right at the front door, but an awesome prop.

I think I got that picture when I was there in 96?. I was hard to take a pic because of the case it was in, and for some reason when I saw it I thought it was larger than normal, or maybe it was because of the case. I will see if I can dig it up might take a few. May not even be worth posting, dunno.

Adam,

If the Maltese Falcon project is progressing, it would be great to watch the development process. Thanks.

DEFINATELY interested in getting an über accurate Falcon, if you'd make a run Adam. PLEASE(!) let me know, in case I'd miss it here :angel

Though kinda off topic and yet not again, here's a (raw edged) Maltese Falcon with vintage ribbon that I finished for a customer in Denmark a few weeks ago:

just to update, the pics I have from warner brothers are not really worthy. the reflection from the case made them unusable. sorry folks. the hunt continues...

I'd have to say that the dingus is probably the most coveted prop 'round these parts... but a definitive version has still not been offered.

Agreed. Which is surprising given the number of authenticated replicas that exist. Several have been auctioned off in the last 15 years by very large auction houses. You would think in this day of portable 3D laser scanners, perfectly reproduced falcons would be as easy to find as replicas of the Eiffel tower at a the Paris airport.

Personally, I'm holding out for Adam's project. A laser scanned, bronze reproduction. I don't know why I'm obsessed over an absolutely accurate reproduction of a fictional icon. Then again, I guess that's the whole point of this forum.
