Luke V2 Prop

Okay so this is my first post so please don’t judge and it’s about my favorite lightsaber the Luke V2 from ROTJ. Now I just wanted to point this out but it looks like during production they used the same chrome tape to cover the graflex stamping as they did for an ESB graflex in the scene where Luke is about to strike down the emperor and it makes me wonder, why does nobody else ever use this added little feature. Almost every V2 I see today skips out on this feature. I feel maybe the adhesive of the tape wore down and nobody ever decided to reapply it. I don’t know it’s still a mystery. It’s like a blink and you’ll miss it moment of the prop. Just thought it was something cool to show since I feel nobody ever puts this on their V2s

You're absolutely correct ... it's even mentioned in the text on thepartsofsw website :

… that said the current state of the prop is without that piece of tape and that's what most are replicating nowadays. On a sidenote during filming there was even slightly more paint on the lightsaber prop too ;)

I believe that’s a flash / reflection from the lever vs. chrome tape on the clamp.

There is no evidence of chrome tape having been placed on the flash clamp of the V2 during production of ROTJ.

That appears to be some outdated info on TPOSW.

Yes that is also true about the prop having more paint on it than it does today. I also do know that the D ring was always on in a different location. Like today the D ring is just one pommel cube to the left of the clamp. However when it is sitting on the throne the D ring is in line with the clamp. And on the pic from parts of sw where it is hanging from his belt the D ring is facing 180° And it’s in line with the cone knob

I know it’s a lot to read, but you can find all of this in the main V2 thread as well as see how knowledge of the prop changed over time.

There’s also wicked clear behinds the scenes footage and photos of the v2 being pulled into his hand, and he even pretends to turn it with his thumb.. then cuts to the scene we see today

Trust me.. I’m not saying no tape because of ignorance.. I’m saying not tape because it’s a fact
