Logans Run Sandman Costume on a Mannequin

Actually, Illfated, the Cosplay one is really quite good in person, exception being the belt, which they are reworking.
You can obviously get them to change the powder blue for grey, and the fit is insanely good!

Re: Logans Run Sandman Costume on Mannequin

I ordered my CosPlay costume in March of 2010. The grey striping was what they sent me. Apparently I got lucky. Fit was very nice.

Here's pics of my bf and I as Logan and Jessica, at Dragon*con! We had an awesome incounter with a guy that told us he had an original ankh from the movie and how he wanted to name his son Logan 5, but his ex wife wouldn't let him LOL!

The most we got was that we were 'too young' to know what movie we were costuming from LOL!

AWESOME pics - LOGAN's Run was always a favorite.

The Logans Props are Sooooo cool. Great costumes !!!

Needless to say I have outlived my RED CARD by now .... :confused

I am actually working on an old Logan's Run pistol I designed based on the Movie prop - and the original book SANDMAN Sleeper gun. Since Kev gave me some pointers on how to cast - I am working on a resin kit - maybe ready be Christmas :love

Here is the sketch:

I am taking pictures of the build and will post them as they go along. I am trying for a clean multi piece cast kit. the trick is the Darn Flash hider !! How the heck do you make the two peice mold for that? Everything else is a breeze ..... :confused

I also thought that if a Sandman had to go up against better armed RUNNER's ... he MIGHT need a Rifle - What do you think ?

I love your work. I had my mom and grandmother who are both excellent at sewing. My version was not a tunic but a one piece shirt with the grey chest strip and collar sewn on and the stitching on the chest strip and collar added later. It worked nicely.

I plan on doing another version and will do the tunic style. I have a perfect replica of the gun that was purchased at the 1984 World Con in LA. It is a cast from one of the non working DS guns used by extras in the movie.

I need to find a follower, any ideas?

This is my son in my 40 year old Sandman costume, he asked that I blur his face as he doesn't want anyone seeing him im one of my old costumes, Kids, sheesh, no sense of history. The costume was made by a great lady who sadly is no longer with us, RIP Judy. The collar is a bit short but I had her put velcro under the left shoulder and side to replicate the ones in the movie. The DS gun is made from PVC piping and sheet. I made the holster and mounting attachment from styrene. The Follower is scratchbuilt using plans from a fan magazine, it isn't finished yet as I had no confidence in my ability to put power in it and have it work. I'm planning to finish it now that I have good instructions on how to do that. I made the belt myself and need to replace the 8 pieces on it with something closer to the movie version. The boots are just 2 thin layers of leather with the costume material glued to the sole and running 6-8 inches up with velcro to close it at the back of the boot.

Here is a homemade Sandman costume on a mannequin in my basement. The outfit was created by purchasing long underwear through Cabela's, I used the silk version. I purchased two tops, one had the sleeves removed and was used as the outer layer. Jo Ann Fabrics was our local fabric store where the grey stripe fabric and batting was purchased. Attached is a resin Wilco DS gun and an all metal follower purchased a few years back off of Ebay. The mannequin was found on EBAY through HD Mannequin supply, Charlie6515. The actual black fabric has a sheen to it that is not screen accurate, next time I think I would not use the silk version and would go with just plain black with a polyester/wool combination. The latter combination of fabric might have less wrinkles in appearance. I basically looked at pictures on the internet and the movie and took them to a local seamstress for the final product. All of this had been sitting in a box for a few years until I decided to put it out on display. The actual "belt" was purchased a few years back from Katarra8 off of Ebay as well. Not shown is a red lifeclock in his left hand, also an Ebay purchase. I hope you enjoy this thread and pics, I sure had a lot of fun working on this project. Note: My profiled picture to the left depicts a costume purchased off of Ebay made by CosPlay, not the outfit pictured below on the mannequin. For more info, please review all 4 pages on this topic.
Hi I am apparently too simple to actually see the pictures of your Sandman costume. I would like to see them if possible. I am starting one for myself. Thank you sir.
