The TIE is build by Jos and Melanie (in 1st pic above), father and daughter
They started in 2009 and barely finished it before Celebration V (August 2010)
If you ever have the chance to see it in real live, be sure to check out the photoalbum of build progress (Jos always brings it along, when the TIE is build)
It takes 2-3 days to build it up for a convention and single day to break down
Total mass is about 1.5 Metric Ton (about 3000 pounds)
It's totally self-supportive (meaning it can carry it's own weight), but for security reasons it's connected to ceiling of the convention halls.
It has a fully finished interior, including chair and lights
It's true 1:1 scale
It has been closely "inspected and approved " by Mr. Lucas himself (@ CV)
@CV
with special camera effect (just the blur effect)
The "kill-markings" are really painted on the TIE
build in progress (2010)
part of the cockpit, so YES it has been finished on the inside
Cockpit view on CV convention floor.
just for fun
another CV shot; look closely and you'll see red tags hanging from the wingtips and the cockpit
Those are real "Remove before flight" tags
Amazing collections on here! Just moved into a new house, finally have a dedicated Star Wars living room, almost set up. Just life size Vader ESB and Sandtrooper for now besides all the helmet displays and statues, props, but still makes people's eyes get real big when they come over the first time. Pretty awesome
Just assembled my Jawa. Not finished tho, I have to make left hand posable, the ion pistol is still in it's holster atm. Enfield bandolier, mauser pouches, kobold etc are all original parts...
