Jack Sparrow Compass Toy Conversion

Re: Jack Sparrow Compass Toy Conversion Help!

I have read through this full tread and would like to get a bit of info...

Can this list be completed?
1-Antique pull ring is for the back lanyard? Where was this purchased?
2- Piano hinge a hardware store proper number (6) sections Lowe's was sited
3- The latch was found at Michael's??
4- Where was the leather purchased?

Also this link>> http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/blueprints/ex_jacksparrowcompass01.html

>> is often given as a correct size measurement 3 1/2 inches? But it looks like the TRUE SIZE is "Johnny Depp's hands are about 15% smaller than my hands, so the MOVIE prop would be approximately 15% smaller than the blueprints I am about to make. we learned about Johnny's small hand size after we made this tutorial" so closer to 3 inches??
Anyone got something to add to this?

I scratch built the lanyard ring using a nylon thumbscrew, a chunk of styrene, and a nickel-plated steel ring.

My hinge was a non-descript off-the-shelf item.

Correct on the latch - Michael's.

I used a "leatherette" type product found at a fabric store (Joanne I beleive was the store). I think I have some left.

Finally I can post the pics of my scratchbuilt compass!:D
Thanks to Zombie 61 for the clasp!
(I couldn't have finished my compass without him;))

Here's what I used as the pull ring for my compass...

I modified one section of a pull apart key ring (available at True Value hardware stores for about $2) and added a larger brass ring.

The leather lace came from Michael's Craft store - about $4.

And the latch is indeed from Michael's Crafts too. They come attached to small unfinished wood craft boxes for about $1.99 per box.

I didn't want to start a new thread as I knew there was this wonderful gathering of selfmade-compasses. So here is my newest addition to my Jack costume:

A closer look at the hand-painted and weathered disc:

A real improvement to what I build back in 2006 when I started my whole Sparrow-Project... Sweet but totally inaccurate :)
