To be fair, I wouldn't sleep on these completely. I modified the last version for a convention belt hangar/ photo prop I'll hand off and the response from the public has been great.

same here, and this version is already black so you don't really have to paint it, and if you do blue doesn't show up when it gets scuffed.

It's like a stunt prop. A little paint so it doesn't look like a toy and it will be a nice prop that you don't have to worry about breaking. If it's not crazy expensive it could be a fun little project to repaint. Just like all those Rubies Star Wars blaster repaints on here.
