Electric Tiki Dragon's Lair Daphne Sculpt Opinion

Re: Electic Tiki Dragon's Lair Daphne Sculpt Opinion

They could go back and rework her too before final release. I like it but it'll be way out of my price range.

Re: Electic Tiki Dragon's Lair Daphne Sculpt Opinion

THis should be marked NSFW-- its pretty provocative and suggestive !!!!!!

LOL!!!

Re: Electic Tiki Dragon's Lair Daphne Sculpt Opinion

I'm not quite sure yet. She doesn't look as curvy and the face seems a bit older. But that doesn't make it a pass for me yet. I need to see actual pictures. Putting her in the bubble probably would have made a better display.

I agree with you Dennis, this looks off. I hope you're wrong also but she looks more elf-ish to me thatn human. I always thought she was a hotty!

Well, if you want to be critical...
Let's look at the REAL Daphne, shall we?

I honestly honestly hope I am wrong too. This isn't a knock against the sculptor..on the contrary I feel the quality is top notch. Again I just feel judging from the pics so far that the face just didnt "hit the mark". Faces are quit hard to get just right especially some actors....Harrison Ford's face I've seen is difficult for some sculptors to get just right...John Waynes too is very difficult. I think its the eyes they have trouble with. There is a couple guys on the RPF that I've seen do a great "on the mark" Ford and an awesome Joker from The Dark Knight. After the Comic Con I will post really good close-up pics and we'll all see if I am happily wrong since I was told by Electric Tiki this was a rough prototype so perhaps they will display a polished one at the Con. I doubt they will "tweek" it any because Bluth and Goldman have already approved it. So we'll see

I dont like it. The eyes, nose, mouth, and hair aren't to my liking since they are not the right shape. And the chin line is too broad.
My opinions but I think these are all things that make her look "off"

Re: Electic Tiki Dragon's Lair Daphne Sculpt Opinion

Eyes are too small, lips wrong shape, chin too big. All in all the wrong shapes give her more of a slutty appearance than that appealing sultry but wholesome look. More porn star than princess. I'll pass on this.

FWIW, and Im no expert, but there always seems something different when you take a 2d image and make it into a sculpture. Something doesnt look right in your head. I think it looks pretty good, but daont make final judgement to you see it up close.

I agree about taking a 2D Drawing and making a sculpt but if you look at many of Electric Tiki's other toon sculpts they all look "dead on" to the character as if they stepped off the screen. One of my friends have their Darkwing Duck and Rescue Rangers Maquette and they are awesome....they look just like the character in every way. I will also reserve final judgement until I see it up-close..thanks for your input

Re: Electic Tiki Dragon's Lair Daphne Sculpt Opinion

I think the problem is not the 2D drawing but how realistic is the character that is making the leap to statue form. A lot of 2D animated characters look perfect in statue form. But when you have a character that is in between animated and realistic that's when the problem arises.

I always thought that she looked like Teresa Ganzel:

I think the likeness is pretty good but I did a couple of slight edits using photoshop anyway.

attachment.php

On the left, I dropped the eyelids a little, made the lips slightly smaller, closed the mouth some and took away some of the sides of the mouth. I also added a little color to her cheeks. Original photo on the right.

Is it just me or does her eyes look green on the statue?

Anyway, I think the main issue I'm having is too much smile/teeth. I think if they had made the smile less open and concealed her teeth more, it might look more alluring. The shadows some people are talking about can always be concealed in a repaint, but the mouth would take resculpting.

If I had the cash, though, I'd still get one.

Good work! Your version looks years younger and not jaded. More "Hi sweetie!!" than "How about it, sailor?" :)

RYU,

Wow that is alot better. I'm glad most everyone sees what I'm talking about. Good work....and BTW..do you hold photoshop classes? :lol

Thanks, guys! I appreciate the kind words. Sorry, no classes but I can do an at home tutor session for the price of a plane ticket.

Just to let anyone know, I only did those edits I posted above. I didn't touch the nose or the chin or anything else on the statue, so it just goes to show how those minor details really do seem to matter.

Ryu

The one on the left is easily closer to the character. There might be a problem for me to pick up the statue as it is now.
