DL-44 / Greedo Killer build

Re: Which Denix?

The base gun is the same, including the finish. The only difference is the grips. The wooden ones are a slight upgrade from the resin ones.

Re: Which Denix?

It depends on what Blaster you want to build.

If you want to make one based on the MGC, you better buy the one with plastic grips.
If you want to make one based on a real C96, you better buy the one with wooden grips.

Re: Which Denix?

If the pot metal takes the bluing solution. Wonder if you could bead blast the chrome off. BTW, that one is probably more inaccurate to the Greedo killer than the Denix. Wow, did I just say that?

Re: Which Denix?

If you're going for a TFA then that Mauser is perfect

Re: Which Denix?

Whatever you do, don't use a caustic bath to strip it... Like one plate house just did to mine against my wishes...

I also think that a simple paint job would be better for a TFA version than going through the work of sanding and blueing.

Ouch.. I hope you were well-compensated for that goof. I suppose that you could fill it with epoxy putty or similar.

I once left a Denix's bolt stop in a jar of vinegar to strip the bluing, which within minutes dissolved it down to a black, fuzzy, pea-sized pebble. I had to scratch-build a new one.

Which Denix?

Yeah, after a very long and heated conversation, we worked it out. I'm now in the acceptance stage of grief... I'm going to try some filler and paint to see what can be salvaged. When they called me they described the condition as "some pitting" lol. Completely ridiculous.

Re: Which Denix?

The MGC is made of the same family of metals as the Denix, and that makes it relevant.

I would try epoxy putty with some pigment kneaded in. I have previously filled Denix with metal shavings but how much that takes bluing varies a great deal.
