Hey, thanks a lot. as much as like to be able to answer all your questions, this is my first build and im coming up against these issues too. from what I've done so far, the pva takes away some of the foam texture, but nowhere near all of it (but it will depend on the type of foam. Im not sure, but doing a couple of coats of diluted glue MAY help this.

As for the plastidip... im yet to use it, but from what i can gather from available sources, it is just a "rubber" paint, which is more flexible and less likely to crack than regular paint paint/primer. so far I've used normal primer on top of pva and it hasn't cracked yet.. if any of the experienced boy wanna jump in and correct me, id be happy to hear the truth !

I aim to have my suit as smooth and shiny as possible, and I'm hoping to overcome the texture of the foam somehow. I'll be interested to know how yours turns out! It looks awesome so far

Hey Just thought id share my progress so far and try out the link to image feature at the same time. Pictures are always nice to look at ...

Now i know this image link works, ill upload more progress pictures every now and again. I suppose the next step is right arm May try a leg, heard the thighs are quite hard to do.

I found this thread a couple days ago and decided to try. In my excitement i bought best step square floor mats that are 8-9mm thick, kinda hard to work with. Guess i need to go out and find a place that sells the rolls.
Anyway...i've been having problems with the hot glue bubbling when i put it on the foam, causing it to squish out the front when i press pieces together, looks very messy. Any suggestions on how to prevent this? Or just how in general to make the front look clean.

well in my build when i put 2 foam pieces together and get excessive glue, as soon as a see it i run my fingers on it to get it off. generallly u dont get burnt. thats how i did it

Hey j0wE, is this the same suit you mentioned building the upper torso with 9-10mm floor mats?

here's my finished "black" mark VI suit. . .

i also had modified HD warmachine torso (it's from zabana's thread on 405th) and a complete modified set of mkIII foam templates (i started on my mark II chest). . .but where i can upload them?

No this is the Best Step foam, which is like 5 or 6mm at the thickest.

And ironmaided that suit looks gooood!

All primed, other than his blue (suede) shoes....



Once i've sealed and painted the shoes i'm going to leave it like this for a while until i find a way of getting rid of the foam texture. Then just need to fill/sand a couple of bits and its ready to fight some injustice. Sort of.

FYI the foot flaps were just placed on the feet for this photo, which is why they arent straight.

stevie, put it on and get some photos of you wearing it up. its great to see builds at this stage. Well done for completing. Are the thighs as dificult as people make out? What is actually dificult about them?

What sealing and priming methods are you using?
