Chewbacca costume build

Started on the grey down the legs last night - still a bit more to go but should be done by tomorrow evening.

No trimming and totally ungroomed.

Not happy with my feet - procured some drywall stilts to get more height and not so wide at the base. Starting on the shirt and stilts should arrive this week.

Right. Bought some stilts which take me to 7 foot 5.

Have also bought some #6 and #4 hair to blend more into the existing grey and blonde.

Have also had a seamstress add extra mesh to the bottom of the existing pants so latch hooking commences again tonight.

Lots to do to pad out the front of the leg so it looks more natural.

Getting there.

My buddy here is 5 foot 10 stocking feet:

Update. Will finish the shirt and pants this week - or next LOL.

Lots to do with regard to blending but I'll get there. Just want to get all the hair on first :)

Will go for life cast for the mask in a few weeks too.

Still working on the shirt - should have it done by the end of next week.
Will pick up mask mid April. Got the bandolier on the way, need to make toes, have lots of other stuff to put together. Yay!

Progress pics. 7 foot 5 on stilts:

Will post progress shots later on tonight. Waiting on more grey to come in. Have an "armour party" this weekend in Canberra so hopefully should get the feet done.

Updated pics. Have "Operation Furball" happening at my digs next week which entails costuming friends from the 501st coming over and pointing out gaps in the mesh, fine tuning of feet, hairing up the mask, etc. This is two weeks out from Supanova in Sydney where I plan on debuting the costume. Am also having a mate whipping up a Wookiee elder staff which is primarily used by Wookiee Chieftains however this will not only look great but act as a stabilising walking pole whilst I'm up on the stilts.

The suit will be completely covered in hair by weeks end. I also have a hairdresser coming over next week to "groom" the suit. Giggity.

Looking Brilliant! Did you make your mask? It's quite good! I'm guessing you're the proud owner of the Elder Staff posted on the RL forums? I'm a bit jealous haha

Hi Bacca9.

I wish I had the skills to make my mask - I've put that task in the hands of an extremely talented local prop maker :)

And no, I didn't purchase the Elder Staff but am looking into having one made. They're very cool :D

Regards
Sez.

The suit is completely haired up!

Now working on the "mullet" for the back of the mask - noice!

More hair arriving tomorrow :)

Thanks guys. I picked up the mesh suit on 24 Dec 2013 and gave myself a six month deadline (14 June Supanova Sydney) to have it all done,

It certainly is tough going I thank my lucky stars I have a supportive family and amazing friends that have helped me along the way. I will never go down the latch hooking path again though - wow, that's laborious work. It's satisfying but too darn time consuming.

Can't wait for my Wookiee Weekend (aka Operational Fuzzball) this Saturday to get the costume up to scratch and finally hair up the mask. This will be my last chance before debut to really nut out any missing bits, obvious mesh signs, etc, etc.

Will post up more pics after Saturday.

Love Sez.
