BTW have you ever tried the Tamiya weathering kit? its amazing stuff , unlike pastel its more greasy so its sticks and you have more control and achieve super thin streaks in scale like on the Falcon and AT-AT, but whatever technique your using it the results look fantastic!

Its not permanent so you need to seal it with a dull coat, I used it on acrylic and Enamel with no problems at all its harmless stuff, if your not happy with your streaks you can just wipe off and restart it just requires a seal or it will rub off, I used it on my MPC Tydirium Shuttle and Battlestar Galactica Viper you an see here.
