Alternate Versions of Movies for TV that You Remember

I've never seen it, but there's a version of The Godfather and The Godfather Part II that is presented in chronological order and which includes scenes from the novel that didn't make it into the theatrical or home video releases of either film.
It was shown over a few nights here in the UK.
Here's a few.... any Eddie Murphy movie, Trading Places springs to mind Get the Flip outta here or such like.

Another was adding Lasers to the classic Gerry Anderson Stingray and Thunderbirds.

Bloody Awful!

Oh and The Evil Dead initially released with shorter Pencil twisting and gore cut out but for years I had a shop copy before the Video Nasties brigade heavily cut pretty much everything including The Enforcer and Dead Heat which was almost unwatchable...

If you lived through the birth of the local video store many changes were made for TV and videos were apart from Porn pretty much open for anyone to rent.

First video I rented Creepshow
The second was Scanners..

Some movies never saw the light of day on main TV, then again we didn't have cable or satellite until BSB, Sky and ComTel in mid 89 here in UK

Just remembered another one. I first saw Austin Powers 1 on TBS. The "Italian Confidential Secretary" was named Alotta Cleavaga (Clee-vah-jay). The dubbing was very well done, and the typewriter typing on screen even matched perfectly. When I saw the real version, I was very surprised. I feel like the tv version was funnier, as you can have a lot of "cleavaga" but not a lot of the, ahem, alternative. But the joke name parody is diminished. I can't find any pics or videos to back this up, but it is documented in the Austin Wiki. Modern tv viewings are the normal one. Apparently the early tv version was the airline version.

I seem to remember a version where "Skinemax" was replaced with "cable". Another take, not an overdub.

There's a version of Superman 2 where Zod and pals land in that small town and a kid tries to take off on a horse to go warn someone. One of the supervillians throws, I think, the flashing light from that cop car and kills the kid at a distance. Ursa makes a comment on how the kid will now never grow to be a man.
Never seen it since and I know how people can recall things incorrectly but I swear I recall this scene.

Yeah it was there. All the various versions are available in the big Blu-Ray set that came out years ago.

To this day I swear my sister and I watched a broadcast of Aliens on CBS that included the hallway turret scenes but no Amanda Ripley death reveal. I think this was summer 90-91. Never had it on my HBO recorded VHS copy or such, never saw it again until the Director's cuts started appearing and I had been talking about it for years and was finally vindicated.

Bless you. People for years said I was nuts or had made it up completely.
Your welcome. That's the first time I saw that clip. Can't believe I never saw it till I searched for it last night. Guess they wanted Zod and gang to be bad, just not kill a kid with a police light bad, ; )

I seem to remember that too..it looked like videotape

Don't remember if anyone has mentioned it. I did a search and didn't find anything, so hope it's not a repeat.

I remember back when I was younger there was a showing of The Terminator on German satellite TV - either RTL or SAT-1 (unsure of spelling) or one of the other ones that included all the deleted scenes. So you saw Reese's breakdown at the beauty of nature and conflict with Sarah, the police officers' additional scenes and the final scene at the factory when Sarah was wheeled out were Cyberdyne Systems employees were pilfering endoskeleton parts.

On the same channel I saw a Bram Stokers Dracula with additional scenes.

The way she looks very enthusiastic at the idea they just killed a little kid is disturbing to say the least. No wonder it was cut from the original film.

Yea I think she was supposed to hate all men except Zod. The way she said, He will never grow up to be a man, was part of that storyline. Definitely not a good look. Glad they cut it. I kind of liked her in the version I saw. Well as much as you can like a cold blooded, man hater, lol.

Correct. This is referenced even in Jor-El's indictment of her in the first movie:

"...On the woman Ursa, whose perversions and unreasoning hatred of all mankind have threatened even the children of the planet Krypton..."
