Air Compressor Recommendation?

Have you checked to see if there is a way to chemically etch the chrome?

There is. PCB etchant from Radio Shack, but it seems to warm the color of the finish. I guess it's eating chrome and exposing the nickel? I believe fuming with muriatic acid rectifies the "applied look".

Here is an example of a bridge which is a couple of years newer than the one I am replicating. 50's Tele bridges even pristine are what I consider "dry" below the pickup. Above the pickup is what I would consider thin plating.
