1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Are we interested to see pics and videos of the show? Well, lemme think about it for...1 micro sec: YES of course we want them!!:facepalm:lol

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I think we should donate to get you vinyls for the trailer. Uhauls classically have images representing different cities and states on them (hence the Stowe graphic), let's get those replaced with Degobah, or the Death Star even lol

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Wow, so I just now finished reading through this entire build thread after I started this summer. I found this thread reading through the CG Falcon thread, and just had to read through it. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN! I cannot even begin to tell you how much this is amazing. Inspiring, too. I'm in Virginia, so a trip out to help might be a bit, but I'll see what I can do when the opportunity arises. I've already sent Chris Lee an email, but I will admit distance makes it sketchy. I'll be joining the 501st soon, so maybe I can help out by providing security for the cockpit at Cons, so that some lady doesn't try and get in while you're out at lunch! Thanks so much for doing this fantastic and inspiring build for Star Wars fans everywhere!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

Whew... what a show! Although we got caught in the massive thunder / rain storms at the end of the show preventing us from loading up, the Mind Gear Labs / Mythbuster's show was amazing! I want to thank Rob from Mind Gear Labs for putting this together and inviting us to the show! It was so much fun!

We were all together around 10:30am when set up began. Several hours into the set up Adam Savage and his two sons popped in to say hello and check out the cockpit. Although still in pieces it was a total surprise seeing Adam and of course... awesome! He was showing us pics of several projects he's working and was just genuinely interested in everything (Mind Gear Labs) we were doing. Chris Lee got some great pics - coming!!!! The rest of the Mind Gear Labs folks trickled in and set up by 4:00. It wasn't until about 5:00 when things got really interesting...

Adam and his kids stopped back by and checked out all the exhibits. They spent some time in the cockpit and we even got a signature on the instrument panel and were kind enough to have several pics taken. Just a really cool down to earth guy who is as excited about science, Star Wars and Sci-Fi as we are. The way he is on camera is the way he is in real life - he's a real guy! He had some amazing stories to tell. His kids were just as nice and outgoing and I hope they all had a great a time as we did...

There were also several former ILMers (now part of the Mythbusters crew) who stopped by and were dazed and amazed with the cockpit - for us - that was quite a compliment. They were also kind enough to give some GREAT advice on moving forward with build materiel, framing, transport, etc... AWESOME!

The best part... During the show, Adam, in front of 2000 Mythbusters' fans, talked about the Millennium Falcon cockpit / Full Scale Build and described how amazing it was and encouraged everybody in the audience to check it out and the other exhibits. Intermission was utter CHAOS!!! It was AWESOME!!!!! I want to thank Rob, Adam, and the entire Mythbuster's team for a great day!

ALSO... we've got our light and sound crew together!!!! It's going to be a fun ride these upcoming months!

Pics, Vids and Other Goodies Coming!

I didn't get a whole lot of pics because we have MANY surprises coming. :D

I suspect your build will soon be talked about on Tested's vlog series Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project. When it is, this thread may become flooded.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

I'll be posting more pics and vids as they come in... The vids will take some time...

Extreme space knitting, an Almakian apple Danish, feet up on the dashboard ...Two ...Droids. Is this episode VII already? Great pics, fab gig!!!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I couldn't stop smiling the entire read; great to see ASavage in there (fits right in) and never tired of seeing that cockpit. I cannot wait to see the right seating in there and the windows put in place.:cool

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I hope you had some horizontal boosters, alluvial dampers, and the hydrospanner on hand for the guy working under the hood.

Hi L,

As a joke I was going to create a sign for the back that read: "SW EP VII - MF COCKPIT - Remove BEFORE Transport"

I wonder what type of interest / chaos (if any) that would create?

Hi MT,

Thanks you so much for the kind words. It's definitely been an adventure full of ups, downs and everything in between. I'm at the point now where I have to make a decision about the canopy... UGH... This is one of those down moments.

Having lived in VA for 20 years and making that drive from VA to HSV 4 times a year - it's only a 12-13 hour drive. You could do that sitting down! ;) But distance doesn't mean you can't help in some way. We have folks all over the world contributing. Whether fabricating throttle levers, donating greeblies, identifying parts, etc... The more hands and eyes we have, the closer we get.

We've been contact with a few reps from the Sci-Fi museum. There might be a time when we bring the cockpit to help promote the grand opening. We're very early in talks and nothing finalized.

Now that our sound and lighting team is assembled, we're definitely going to start the "Cons" to help promote the Full Scale Project. We're hoping our meet and greet with Adam Savage from Mythbusters will help generate more interest.

Chris is one of the original 501st members. I'll be sure to have him check his email.

Thanks again! And as always... Stay Tuned

Hey Red,

I'll definitely be checking it out. PLEASE post the link if you find it before I do! :)

wow wow wow, wish I was there.

Hey DJ,

It was quite an experience! I think you would have had a great time! The backstage passes were awesome! Chris and I were chatting about SW Celebration in 2015. There will be 30,000+ Die Hard Star Wars fans... Think about that for a sec...

Do we know how to put together a low quality B Movie or what?! ;)

Hey Joe,

Seeing Adam walk in was quite a surprise. But his genuine enthusiasm / interest for what we were doing was the best part of the show for me. He commented on the rocker switches only to be shocked to find out they were 3D printed and cast.

Speaking of seating... Chris and Leah should be getting the JEGS racing seats anytime now... :)

It wasn't that serious after all. After Dan found a tub of elbow grease he replaced the muffler bearings and headlight fluid... But that dang "Check Hyper Drive" light is still on!
