Decided to give my Steinberger the EVH treatment; Decided to start with a relatively inexpensive Steinberger Spirit GT-Pro instead of a GL2T.
Here's Eddie's actual GL2T Steinberger for reference.
The GT-Pro has a H-S-H pickup configuration that I had to work around, so the paint scheme wasn't going to be exact - but I did try to keep it faithful to the original.
The body is black so I decided to take advantage of that for striping purposes, and started off by masking the black striped areas (and decided to add an extra black stripe to highlight the Steinberger name).
Masked off the faceplate area and painted it white, then masked stripes in varying layers for the white stripes and painted red over them. Clearcoated then added more layers of white and red. The effect is such that as I play the guitar and it gets weathered, various layers of red, white and black will show through.
Here's what I finished with!!
