Hey guys,
I bought an extremely nice Helmet from Curtis (Biggeek1972) and his brother and thought it would be worth sharing :)
This as my foundation, I want to share my Iron Man 3 project with all of you!! :)

So here we go, this is what I got out of the box:

Then I trimmed it to my head shape:

I'll post my progress here with all knowledge I might get to give something back to this awesome community!

Looks sweet. I have one ordered. I plan on making a pattern from it to produce a steel version to go with my new project I want to start.

I'm still having trouble figuring out what color the Iron Man Mark 8 (VIII) has...

Here is my guess:

The red could be:
GENERAL MOTORS 076 Dark garnet red metallic

And the gold...hmmm maybe one of these???:

Go with champagne gold. I'm redoing mine because of the wrong color I used. :facepalm

Looking good. My run is about to start. I also have his iron patriot helmet coming. What's your plans for hinges and eyes for this?

I went with dupli-color cashmere beige metallic aero

It was a hard choice, and I'm still not sure if the champagne gold would be better.

But it turned out pretty well I think :)

The red is still hmmm... Not exactly what I was looking for as you can see on my example above. But I'm growing on it :)

I have a few different plans for hinges... Not sure which one I like most yet.
As I said I like to share everything here, same for the hinges ;)

For the eyes I'll go with EL patches
(Electro Luminescent) the same stuff they use for Tron costumes :)

Already ordered, hope I'll have some pictures for you soon!

Unfortunately the white version of EL tape / patches is pink when turned off o_O
And that would look very strange too... -.-
So it looks like I have to go with the standard LED method...

Looking sweet. I love tge EL tape. So easy to use and looks great. That's what I've used on mine as well. Can't wait to see the rest of your build. I went with a light blue. When off its white. As you can see by my avatar not bad color.

It would be so incredibly perfect if the white EL tape would be also white when it's off... The pink when it's off really stops me from buying it.
