Captain America TWS (The Winter Soldier

You might also need a Winter Soldier Shield for that costume.

That's a great idea, grey matter. However, I've just decided to go a different route instead of risking an expensive set of Combat Trousers.

Workin on this costume and I've decided on a basis for the uniform. 511 Tactical makes a Rapid Assault Combat Shirt, available in a dark blue color. This shirt will easily act as base for the rest of the upper portion of the costume. Not only is it as close to a screen-accurate color that I could seem to find to use, but it will also be quite comfortable and breathable to use as well. The pants are also 511 Tactical pants of the same color.

This costume will be used for a couple of events. The opening of the film, much like my TFA version that I used at the Avengers opening night. Halloween costume parties. And a bit of a unique setting most costumes don't see: use in a Halloween Laser Tag game hosted by a group I host events for. Not only will I attempt to make this accurate, but also able to hold up to the games played.

I've started making some of the Cap's accessories. The boots I'll just reuse from the TFA, and probably the utility belt, too. The harness for the shield is being made from a modified leather shoulder holster. I'll have pictures up later once I've got more pieces assembled.

Wanna figure out the best way to source the silver bits for the stripes and something to use with the star.

Not to double post, but I've got some progress on my suit.

Got a shield harness working, though I'm trying to figure out the best way to make an attachment that'll work. Right now the back side of the shield simply has two straps and I've looped a third strap around those two and the back of this harness for now. I've gotta take the harness off to mount the shield in that way, which works for display, but I want it to work on-the-fly. Gonna hit the drawing board with some ways to get it to work.

Also got the main players in the mail. A Rapid Assault Shirt and pants in dark blue from 511 Tactical. These will be what I'm building the rest of the uniform on. Form and function.

Hey guys, so here is a case I am making for my shield. I'll post more pics when it is completed. But it gives you the idea. Now it is from Instagram first, then facebook.

Looking good as you are!
I made the chest star from a wall hanger that was on clearance at Joanne Fabrics and added a plastic plate and velcro for attachment.

Good idea on using the 511 tactical for a base suit.
If you don't mind sharing who manufactured the shoulder holster that you used has a base for your back harness?

To make the shield removable, have you considered making a hook similar to the what Hot toys has the shield attach to the 1:6 scale figure?
To have more hold could also use a large rare Earth magnet.

The holster is from "Classic Old West Styles" or "COWS" (lol) based outta El Paso, TX. The leather is a little lighter than I'd like so I'm going to try to find a good way to darken it up.

I am unfamiliar with how the Hot Toys version attaches, so that's something I may look into. What material was the chest star you used? I'd like to find something flexible/softer to use. The chest star and stripes around it will likely be on another set of fabric that will velcro closed over the front to cover the Half-Zip front.

Thanks for the recommendation on the holster.

The star is metal but is also used as a velcro closure on the front of my suit.

I was thinking that a simple mold could be pulled and then a rubber or silicon star could be cast.
The same material could also be used for the stripes, flag and shield crest.
All attached with velco so the suit would be easier to wash.

toyhaven: Review 1: Hot Toys 1/6 scale Captain America: The First Avenger 12-inch Figure

This website has the instructions and a picture of the "S" clip that attached the shield to the star buckle on the back.
Was thinking a canvas or leather loop combined a similar S clip would work in full scale.
The loop attaches to one of the straps on the shield.
The rare earth magnets could help guide the clip into the proper position when placing the shield on your back.
Since the TWS suit has a star buckle on the back the same theory should apply.

You know, if those close-ups didn't exist of that red on the pants, I think we all would've missed it. Nearly impossible to notice in the trailer footage.

I'd love to hear why the designer decided to do that. Great detail to have - making the suit still (mostly) have all the classic colors - but it's oddly placed. Cool - but still odd lol
