Game of Thrones

I think Arya and the Hound, and Jamie and Brienne each need their own buddy cop film series a la Lethal Weapon.

Also, LOVE how they changed the last scene with Arya. Soooo much colder and darker.

Was kind of disappointed that they didn't have Jamie's scorn and outrage for what Tywin had done to Ice when he found out it how it was made

Great episode though. They nicely condensed Oberyn's backstory and insight to his character with his introduction. Arya and the Hound stuff was the show stealer though

Haven't quite warmed up to the new Daario. The other actor seemed to fit the part better

I read they had to recast Daario because the other actor wanted to go on tour with his band.

Edit - Oops. Just saw it was because he got a role in a movie.

Things like the blue rose and Oberyn mentioning that Rhaegar left Elia for another woman. Not sure if they'll actually expand on that, but nice to see it thrown in there.

Considering it led to Robert's Rebellion I expect they'd have to expand on it a bit more at some point.

I'm not totally sold on the new Daario, but nothing wrong with him. I get why they decided to have Shae more jealous over Sansa than in the books, but I don't particularly care for it. I'm glad to see Dontos again though, season 3 had me concerned he wasn't going to show up again. They'd probably have done better to introduce him before now, probably won't be able to touch on any of the Jonquen stuff now.

It's funny, but when they have such ENORMOUS guys like the guys who've played Gregor Clegane, you kinda forget just how big Rory McCann is.

loved the first episode of season 4.we now get them in oz only 2 hrs after they air in the u.s. !! gotta love that:) :cheers :thumbsup

Has anyone else noticed that clip they kept showing where it had the dragons shadow on the red keep.

Dream, vision, flashback, something else?

They also executed Ned with his own sword correct?

Yes. Ser Ilyn Payne, The King's Justice and a Lannister bannerman, took possession of it after Ned was imprisioned

The sword, called Ice, is a Valyrian steel sword. To own a Valyrian steel sword is something of a status symbol. The fact that the Lannisters had lost theirs many generations ago was something Tywin always hated. So, now, he gets to have 2 Valyrian steel swords and also symbolically closes the book on the Stark family by melting their sword down and burning its wolf's pelt sheath. As if murdering them all wasn't enough.:unsure

In the book, the blades made from Ice had a strange, reddish color to the steel that I always took as symbolic of the blades being tainted by the evil deeds done by the Lannisters.

Thats right! I totally forgot about that. I think in the book they explained it away as some sort of unintended byproduct of the spells needed to forge Valyrian steel, but I like your interpretation. Of course, Tywin looked at it a different seeing as how that was the color of House Lannister, but thats just him being an evil son of a...
