BTTF II second jacket build Pattern Help!!

Hey all,
So some of you may know I've made a second BTTF II jacket and it's complete

Looks pretty sweet, however... I still had trouble this time around getting the lines between the diamond pattern to be black. Here's a pic of the jacket:

Now I've made a sample and managed to colour in the lines with a pen. Water didn't seem to effect it or make it run, but if alcohol spills on it then it will smear. So... it would take A LOT of work, but in people's oppinion should I colour in the lines on the full jacket??? Or leave well enough alone again this time??? Here's the sample:
