Thanks, much appreciated! As much as I was kinda disapointed with the parts at first, the more I work on them, the more they get where I want them to be! So that's a good sign! loll

Ok, so, tonight, after a little more work on the War Machine helmet, I came back to the inner shoulder problem.

Since the parts came without support to join them ... I'll need to build them myself. Here's my idea ..

    1. Build a cardboard backing where the support will be.

    2. Apply EpoxAmite with fiberglass cloth over the support (which will end up being the drawn section), and once it's set, remove support and reinforce with more fiberglass.

Or get some (Lepage) epoxy putty and build up that section, then reinforce with EpoxAmite and cloth/matte when it's dry?

Are those naive idea that can't fundamentally work?

    Foot plate

    Calf progress

Began patching the bubbles and broken edge on the torso ... I used epoxy putty for this, seems to hold really nice. Hopefully, it will last for long?!?

Shoulders. Support still need to be done!

Here's a sneak peak at the new calf model I did with a friend. I'll let you judge of its accuracy! It has the asymetry of the original .. just finished unfolding this, will build it and post pics soon!

Let me know what you think!

Hey Bigturc, one question, this shin is the same model of Dancin Fool ??
If it is not, can you shared this file ??
    would be helpful

    Don,
No, this calf is way different than the DF one as it's based on the real suit. I added the link in the second post, here it is again! It's actually similar to Zabana's calf file which was also based on the CG file.

Nice work, big fan! Can't wait to see what you do with the boots, I myself going to start doing a build, crazy enough it will be IM MK III; and the War Machine, can this calves be used on the MK IV? do you have the thighs?

    Thanks bro.

The Mark IV/VI calves are very different, but that doesn't mean you can't mix things up a bit.

It's only his leg/boot sections and hands that are pep so far. The Chest/back shoulders and neck are all 3D milled pieces from the CGI files.
But yes he does do some nice pep work those gloves and boots turned out awesome.

Yeah, you just made me notice that I didn't show any pics in this thread of the rest of my parts .. I'll do that later today!!

Yep, very different! These are really the MK3 calves, and are closer to the MK7 but really, a different model in the end!

What Clinton say! And thanks Clinton, peping is really a pain, and I haven't yet proved that I can transform paper to a final piece, but hopefully, I'll get my calf done soon and then, I can show off a little! loll

Yeah, it's different from my calf. Mine was modelled after the Hot Toy's Mk 3 because I wanted all the moving parts to work the same way as the toy.

    Yep, true that ^^^!

If you want all separate parts in the original model, my file is not for you, although you could always separate them after the fiberglass is done since I've modeled the lines exactly where the separation is supposed to be!

Here's my completed helmet [C&C'ed from the CGI file) (build thread here)

    Foot [Zabana @ 110%]

This foot is from Zabana's file, it was scaled by 10% and I've got size 12 shoes. If I find a show that is tight all around the foot .. it'll be perfect!!! It leaves a little space all around for some padding if you don't want to use a shoe in there! The shoe in it's current pic state is fiberglassed inside with Smooth-On EpoxAmite! Very solid model!!!

    Comparison:

    2 pieces/slip over show - Dancing fool
3 pieces high heel (bigger model) - ROBO
    2 pieces accurate - Zabana

    With size 12 foot

That helmet looks incredible man. This is shaping up to be one awesome build. And is it just me or does anybody else almost prefer the look of primer grey to a fully painted piece?
Would love to see the helmet in situ with the rest of the torso and arms

I modeled the DancingFool v1 then v2 in separate pieces, but anal as I am, I wanted something close to the movie, so I modeled my own ..

    Thigh [DF v.2 @ 100%]
    Calf [DF v.2 @ 108%]

    Comparison to screen used leg:

BTW, this leg above (thigh & calf) won't be of any use for me since I'm rebuilding my own model! They're scaled to fit me at 6'3, thigh scale is 100% while calf is at 108%.

I gotta get rid of them! If you're interested, PM me!

    Hands [Zabana @ 95%]

By default, Zabana's files are at 0.9 for the hand and 1 for the fingers. Since I have extra large hands, I scaled the hand at 1 and the fingers at 1.1. Now, the fitting was not as perfect as I wanted, so I redid them at 95%. Perfect fit for my large hands!

As for the fingers, I asked for a special file from Zabana .. the long fingers file which is good for long thin fingers like mine. Here's a compilation of my work on them to end up with a perfect fit for me!

And here's how I joined the parts together for those who'd be wondering ... Oh and btw, buying and receiving my Silhouette cutter just before doing those hands really saved me about 50 hours of cutting!

It IS a really nice helmet!!! Never regretted buying it!! Way worth the $$$ I paid! And yeah, I say it again, I can't wait to get everything in primer before the paint job!!! These shots in primer always pops out all the details (and imperfections - if any) so that's why it looks so beautiful! loll

I've got a pic in the thread of the helmet on my torso with the shoulders on .. that's as far as it goes for now!

Here's a comp between the 100% hand and 100-110% fingers vs my 95% hand and the 100% long fingers from Zabana

Now, the fit is much much better. What I did was reduce the hand from 100% to 95% and the fingers could now be used at 100% of the "longer" version. Notice how the old fingers (left) are the same length but much bigger then the new one (right).

You might say that for 5%, it's not worth the extra work but yeah, it does, and since I'm really a perfectionnist and love things to be perfect, restarting was not such a big issue for me!

Here's the diff between the 100% hand/110% fingers and my new 95% hand/100% long fingers.

    Cod piece (Dancing Fool v2 @ 115%)

This is my best fiberglass job so far .. at its largest, it's 31.5cm. At default scale (1.525, its at 28cm). Again, I might need to get rid of it to build it a little bigger .. I could easily pack this for someone starting his build!

    Nice build log.

And that's a drop in the bucket for exrta pep parts. I just threw out 3 extra pairs of legs couple full arms 2 COD's , a full ab/spine section, 4 boots and various other pieces. And that was just Iron Man pieces, drives you crazy trying to get the right stuff going when there wasn't all these great files from Randy and others.
