Woohoo! Just those pesky final bits to do! Like a lighted stand... and stuff... because we like a challenge!
A box for the various electrical gubbins made from lots and lots of discs of 2mm styrene. I made the walls of the box by laminating three layers of 0.5mm styrene strip around a tube.
I made a clever lid by stacking various discs and cut-outs of 2mm styrene as well.
The lid got stuck to the bottom of the original stand I made...
More discs and rings made up a hollow foot for under the box. I stuffed it with discs of roofing lead I "liberated" at work... In total it made the stand weigh about 130 grams...
One of the lead discs needed a little channel cut out...
To make room for a bit of copper wire. Part one of the light switch...
Part one of the switch on the weighted base, the two terminals made in the same way sticking out of the bottom of the box...
Twist the base, and the copper wire in the weighted foot bridges the two terminals in the box. Easy-peasy...
Font found on the interwebs... Printed out and stuck to a thin sheet of styrene...
A lot of painstaking cutting out later...
Stuck on and ready for paint...
The base painted Gun Metal Black with a dry-brush of Bright Brass and a coat of Klear. Just put it all together to get a feel for it...
And it feels like... something is missing...
But what?
Hmmm...
NO DROID! We're droidless!! And I personally find my lack of droids disturbing...
Stacking styrene scraps on the end of a bit of tube...
Powertool + sanding stick = WIN!
Leg!
More legs!
Greebled up and painted...
"Aren't you a little short for an Astromech Droid?"
*beeble-greep TWEET pweet WOOT!!*
"Now that's just RUDE!! besides, not really sure you can do that with a photonic power outlet without serious injury... oh, you mean that's the point..."
Just for that, you're getting a grappling hook... *Weeble..?*
*Breeeeeee-iiioooowwww!!*
DONE!
Thanks all of ya'll for watching, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
