If Gunn was in the same headspace today, Disney would never have given him GOTG.
Yeah, that is exactly my point.

Have you met any one who was molested as a young child? Have you met any one who was raped? I have and pedophilia and rape are NOT a joking matter. Add to the fact one of his friends was arrested and convinced of child porn. So yeah, two different situations.

I'm saying both used Twitter but each wrote different things.Yes to both your questions. As for what is and what isn't something people are allowed to joke about, thats personal taste. Having bad taste in humor or trying to be intentionally offensive is not a crime nor indicative of someone who may commit a crime. At least not in the US where Gunn resides.
Well, you were the one trying to conflate two separate situations. I pointed out how they were different. Now you're saying they are indeed different, so I guess you're agreeing with me. Its hard to tell, really.
What I don't get is, if he knew this was an issue, and apologized for it back in 2012, why leave those tweets up all this time? Doesn't seem wise, especially if you're at the helm of one of Disney's billion dollar properties.

Calling someone a derogatory term is not the same as condoning pedophilia.. if you read any of his tweets you will see he has fantasies abot it..

Then you need to reread some of his tweets. You realize fantasizing is condoning? This is the internet. Even if he had deleted them back in 2012, you know there were people who took screenshots just waiting for a chance to bring them up again. Deleting them would just make it seem like he's trying to hide from his past and not truly sorry for what he said, but sorry he got caught. He owned up to it and moved on. As has already been stated, the fact these tweets resurfaced now had a lot more to do with Gunn's tweets regarding certain political figures. This was in no way done as a means to try and protect kids or any other noble cause.
I have read his tweets. I've followed him on Twitter for a long time. He never once condoned anything. Joking about something, no matter how horrendous is not condoning the behavior.

But all of this back and forth, is simply spinning wheels. He's gone and will most likely never work for Disney again.

As I said, I've read the tweets. There was nothing that was condoning or showed him fantasizing about this stuff. Just horrible, unfunny, tasteless jokes. He was trying to be offensive and get a rise out of people. Essentially, he was trolling.
Barr's and Gunn's situations just aren't the same.
Totally disagree. They both said very offensive things on social media and both paid the price for it. Doesn't matter if one person was supposedly joking and the other was supposedly making their deepest, darkest feelings known(which I'm not even sure you can prove to be the case). They said what they said and Disney had to show that they won't stand for it in any situation. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.
The guy was in his Forties when he continually made those disgusting and degrading tweets, how much more "growth" do you really need?
