The prints are coming along. This thing is huge! Hopefully the scale is right. I'll have to do a lot of detailing to it since blowing up that small design and reducing the matrix obliterated some fine detail.
I actually just got the first prints back yesterday. They are workable, but I just feel that I made it about 10% too big for the right proportions so we're printing again. Thankfully the gun though is about perfect so I can work on that component.
One thing that is super clear though is that I have a lot of finishing work. Blowing up the scans from 3 3/4" to 6 feet has softened a lot of details. I'll need to do a lot of dremel and bondo work to get some of those details back. It's really nice having a good solid shell to build off of though because sculpting, molding and casting this thing would have cost a few hundred dollars in materials and it might have taken a few tries. It's also way to big to just be latex and I don't see myself getting an oven and getting into foam latex stuff.
