Finally, my is my first post! I signed up to the RPF back in 2014 fully intending to post my first foray into building a foam costume. I got so busy building and testing everything, that I completely forgot to post, but for my first project I was pretty pleased with my Deathstroke costume. It took me about 5 months to make off and on, learning how to use the materials, how to cut foam, seal, paint, what to buy, what not to buy, making a ton of mistakes, etc. etc.
Next I went on to make a Lord Elrond costume based off his armour in the Hobbit movies, since people often tell me I look like Hugo Weaving. Remembering the previous years work it took only about a month of off and on work on this.
After that I got a craving for something original so I took some parts from previous costumes and went Steampunk. This was little more involved than Elrond but I'd say a month or two of work in my spare time to create this, while picking up some new techniques and incorporating metal and EL wire as well as liquid (on the gorget).
This year with Mass Effect Andromeda coming I finally got around to playing Mass Effect 3. I got the urge to do a Geth or Krogan costume but finally decided on the Geth.
With no pattern to work from, as usual, I took a few pics off a Google search and decided on a general Geth look, not Legion. After about a week of testing in cardboard (It's free) I finally got this put together last night, the rare Amazonian Geth. Now to do it in foam.
Sorry I don' t have pics of the chest armour yet.
Unfortunately Andromeda turned out to be a mess, good thing I don't pre-order.
Edit: Oct., 23
I have been taking my time off and on since the original post and gotten more work done.
A shot of my ideas for the chest.
Played around with how I wanted the neck and shoulders to look.
Some Gesso applied to the foam.
Pictures of the head piece almost done.
I didn't care for how the back looked originally so I cut it off and built it up higher.
Nearly finished. I have made a few touch ups for more mobility with the head and the fingers were a nightmare but I have a fix in mind.
